    Risner (back) has been ruled out ahead of Thursday's game against the Rams. Risner has been on the Vikings' injured reserve since the end of training camp due to a back injury. His 21-day practice window opened Oct. 14, but the Vikings will play it safe and keep the 2019 second-round pick out of Thursday's contest. Risner's next chance at suiting up will be Week 9 against the Colts on Nov. 3.

  • Vikings' Dalton Risner: Earns return tag

    Risner (undisclosed) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday with a designation to return, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports. Risner will be forced to miss at least the first four weeks of the season, but he will have the opportunity to return for Week 5 against the Jets.

  • Risner agreed to a one-year contract with the Vikings on Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Risner spent the first four seasons of his career with Denver before signing with Minnesota last September, and he eventually took over the starting role at left guard. He'll presumably reprise that starting role in 2024.

    Minnesota signed Risner on Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. After starting in 15 games for Denver in 2022, Risner will now get a chance to contribute with the Vikings in 2023. It's not clear yet in what capacity Minnesota intends to use him, but he should at least provide some depth to the interior of the offensive line.
