  Barkley (hamstring) officially didn't practice Wednesday. Barkley has yet to mix into drills since suffering a right hamstring injury in the early stages of the Eagles' Week 4 loss to the Rams. Head coach Nick Sirianni expressed hope Monday that Barkley will return to action Sunday against the Panthers, suggesting it's possible he gets back on the practice field by Friday. Until that happens, though, Barkley likely is trending toward another absence in Week 6, which would leave Philadelphia's backfield in the hands of Dameon Pierce and Carson Steele with Will Shipley (foot) set for a multi-week stay on the sideline.

  Barkley (hamstring) wasn't spotted at the portion of Wednesday's practice open to the media, Jimmy Kempski of PhillyVoice.com reports. Barkley was inactive for this past Sunday's loss to the Jaguars in London due to a hamstring injury suffered one week prior, but head coach Nick Sirianni told Zach Berman of The Athletic on Monday that he's "hopeful" the running back will gain clearance to play in Week 6 against the Panthers. Assuming Barkley goes down as a DNP on Wednesday, he's not beginning the week on the right foot, but he'll still have two more chances to mix into drills Thursday and Friday.

  Head coach Nick Sirianni said Monday that he's "hopeful" that both Barkley (hamstring) and DeVonta Smith (hamstring) will both be cleared to play against the Panthers on Sunday, Zach Berman of The Athletic reports. Barkley was sidelined for Sunday's 19-17 loss to the Jaguars in London due to a right hamstring injury that he sustained during the Eagles' Week 4 loss to the Rams. Wednesday will be the first Eagles practice of Week 6 prep, and even a limited session would have Barkley trending toward a return against Carolina. Will Shipley was diagnosed with a partial tear of his plantar fascia following Sunday's game, and with Barkley and Tank Bigsby (abdomen, IR) both sidelined, that currently leaves Dameon Pierce and Carson Steele as the two healthy running backs on the Eagles' 53-man roster.

  Barkley (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's contest at Jacksonville. Barkley didn't practice this week in the wake of suffering a right hamstring injury this past Sunday against the Rams, so his lack of availability for Week 5 doesn't come as a surprise. With Tank Bigsby (abdomen) on injured reserve, it'll be the Will Shipley show out of the Eagles backfield Sunday, while Dameon Pierce also is on hand for RB reps that linger, and Jaydon Blue and Carson Steele are options to be elevated from the practice squad. Barkley's next chance for game action is Sunday, Oct. 18 versus the Panthers.

Barkley hasn't practiced this week and isn't likely to play against the Jaguars on Sunday, leaving Will Shipley, Dameon Pierce and Jaydon Blue as Philadelphia's backfield options for Week 5. Shipley is the favorite to start and get most of the snaps.
