Eagles general manager Howie Roseman said Tuesday that Hurts has "embraced" the new offense and is "excited about it" headed into the season, John Clark of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports. "I think Jalen's adjusted really well to the new offense," Roseman said. "Now again, we're at a moment in time, we haven't played a game. This isn't in reference to Jalen; this is in reference to anything else. I think that a lot of the things that we'll do during the regular season when we have game plans, I think from an offensive perspective, they're going to be different than what we've done in the past. Jalen's embraced it. He's excited about it and obviously we've got to be better than we were last year." Hurts struggled with interceptions during training camp and didn't see any action during the preseason, so Week 1 against the Commanders will provide his first actual game action under new OC Sean Mannion. The 28-year-old Hurts is expected to once again be in the mix as a top-five fantasy quarterback after setting a new career high with 25 touchdown passes over 16 regular-season games in 2025 to go along with a career-best 1.3 percent interception rate. His rushing numbers fell off however, as he punched in just eight touchdowns after averaging 14 over the previous three seasons, and his 421 rushing yards represented his lowest total since he was a rookie in 2020.

Hurts has started to establish a good rapport with offseason addition wide receiver Dontavion Wicks at training camp, Geoff Mosher of PhillyVoice reports. Hurts has long been a target of criticism when it comes to his passing ability, and with the departure of A.J. Brown in the offseason, he will have to prove himself with some new faces in the wide receiver room this season. The Eagles acquired fourth-year pro Dontayvion Wicks from Green Bay in April, and Wicks has emerged as the frontrunner to operate as Philadelphia's No. 2 WR in 2026. Hurts and Wicks spent some time together off the field during the offseason, which Wicks credited as a driving force for how the two players have so quickly found alignment in a short time at camp. With DeVonta Smith (hamstring) currently sidelined, Hurts will have the opportunity to lean on Wicks as his de facto No. 1 option as the team's preseason opener approaches Saturday in Baltimore.

As the coming season approaches, Hurts is slated to work with a dramatically different wide receiver corps, Glenn Erby of USA TODAY reports. A.J. Brown, who led the Eagles with 121 targets in 2025, was traded to the Patriots earlier this month, but prior to that previously speculated move, Philadelphia proactively added depth to a WR corps that is slated to led by returnee DeVonta Smith. The most notable moves in that regard were adding Makai Lemon in the first round of this year's draft, in addition to trading for Dontayvion Wicks and signing Hollywood Brown and Elijah Moore in free agency. During the 2025 regular season, Hurts recorded 3,224 passing yards and a 25:6 TD:INT to go with 421 rushing yards and eight TDs on the ground (on 105 attempts) in 16 contests, numbers that kept him relevant from a fantasy perspective. Looking ahead, Hurts' upside in 2026 is largely tied to how well he adapts to working in new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion's system, as well as how things shake out in terms of the team's collective approach to replacing Brown.

Hurts completed 20 of 35 passes for 168 yards and a touchdown while rushing five times for 14 yards in Sunday's 23-19 wild-card game loss to the 49ers. Hurts connected with Dallas Goedert for a nine-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter, but Philadelphia's offense turned the ball over on downs from San Francisco's 21-yard line with 43 seconds left in the fourth quarter when a Hurts pass intended for Goedert fell incomplete. Philadelphia's offensive inconsistencies persisted throughout the season and came back to bite the Eagles in the playoffs. Hurts threw for 3,224 yards and a 25:6 TD:INT to go with 421 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns in 16 regular-season games prior to Sunday's loss, which dropped his career playoff record to 6-4. He remains locked in as the Eagles' starting quarterback while playing on a five-year, $255 million contract signed in April of 2023.

Hurts completed 13 of 27 pass attempts for 110 yards and a touchdown while gaining five yards on three carries in Sunday's 13-12 win over Buffalo. Hurts struggled with his accuracy in wet conditions Sunday, completing less than 50 percent of his passes in a game for the first time this season. The dual-threat quarterback's 115 yards from scrimmage also represented his lowest total through 16 starts in 2025. Hurts salvaged what would have been a true stinker of a fantasy performance by tossing his career-best 25th touchdown pass to TE Dallas Goedert in the first quarter of Sunday's narrow victory. The Eagles will look to finish the regular season on a high note when Hurts leads the offense against the Commanders in Week 18.
