Head coach Kyle Shanahan indicated Monday that Bosa (knee) "has a chance" to return following the 49ers' Week 8 bye, David Lombardi of SFStandard.com reports. A lingering knee injury has sidelined Bosa for each of the 49ers' last five games. He has yet to return to practice, but with San Francisco on extra rest thanks to the bye, the veteran pass rusher could be available for Week 9 against Las Vegas on Sunday, Nov. 8. Bosa's return would mean less rotational defensive snaps available for Romello Height, Mykel Williams, Ogbo Okoronkwo and Khalid Kareem.

Bosa (knee) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's game against the Falcons. Coach Kyle Shanahan stated that Bosa was "a little too optimistic" with his statement that he would be back before the bye, David Lombardi of SFStandard.com reported Friday. The defensive end's chances to play were also diminished because Sunday's game in Atlanta is played on artificial turf. Bosa will continue to recover in anticipation of the 49ers' Week 9 matchup with the Raiders.

Bosa (calf) did not participate at the 49ers' practice Thursday, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports. Bosa was unable to practice for the second straight day to open the week as he continues to work his way back from a calf injury that has sidelined him since Week 2. The defensive lineman is all but guaranteed to miss a fifth straight game Sunday versus the Falcons, but the team expressed optimism that Bosa could return to action Nov. 8 against the Raiders, per Matt Zenitz of CBSSports.com.

Bosa (calf) Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com in Wednesday's practice. Bosa remains sidelined with a calf injury he suffered during the 49ers' Week 2 win over the Dolphins. Coach Kyle Shanahan hopes Bosa will practice Thursday, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports. Shanahan's statement makes it seem like Bosa has an outside chance to play in Sunday's contest against the Falcons. If the defensive end cannot, he will have to wait until after the 49ers' Week 8 bye to return to the field.

Bosa (knee/calf) has been ruled out for Monday's Week 6 matchup against the Commanders, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports. Though the decision was made not to put Bosa on IR, he's now set to miss his fourth straight game. Head coach Kyle Shanahan said early this week that the veteran edge rusher could have a chance to play against Washington, but Bosa didn't end up practicing at all. While it's not out of the question that he could return Week 7 in Atlanta, it wouldn't be surprising if San Francisco opts to hold Bosa out for that contest as well given that the 49ers have a bye Week 8.
