Davidson signed a contract with the Bills' practice squad Wednesday, Alec White of the team's official site reports. Davidson was the team's leading receiver during the preseason, which wasn't enough to keep him on the active roster but did land him a spot on the practice squad. With Quintin Morris (shoulder) looking iffy for Week 1 against the Cardinals, Davidson could be promoted early.

Davidson was waived by the Bills on Tuesday, Alec White of the team's official website reports. Davidson compiled a team-high 50 receiving yards on five catches during the preseason, but he ultimately didn't do enough to crack the initial 53-man roster. If the tight end clears waivers, he has a good shot of joining the Bills' practice squad ahead of the 2024 season.

Davidson (undisclosed) is competing for one of the Bills' final roster spots at tight end this offseason, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports. Davidson missed the entire 2023 campaign after the Bills placed him on injured reserve last June. The nature of the 25-year-old's injury was never disclosed, though he looks to be past the issue now that he's being viewed as a candidate for a depth role at tight end. Davidson's primary competition for slotting behind Dalton Kincaid and Dawson Knox should come from Tre' McKitty and Quintin Morris.

The Bills placed Davidson on injured reserve Wednesday with an undisclosed injury, ending his 2023 campaign, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Davidson, a 2021 fifth-round pick by Minnesota, spent the 2022 campaign on the Bills' practice squad and then signed a futures deal with Buffalo in January. However, he'll either miss the entire 2023 campaign or will have to come to an injury settlement with the Bills after apparently suffering an injury at some point during the team's offseason program. Davidson has yet to appear in an NFL regular-season game.
