The Vikings placed Muse (hand) on injured reserve Wednesday, Ben Goessling of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. Head coach Kevin O'Connell said Muse suffered a minor hand fracture during Sunday's win over the 49ers, during his recovery of an onside kick. The depth tight end will need to spend at least four games on IR, making his earliest possible return date Oct. 24 versus the Rams.

Muse (undisclosed) was left off the Vikings' injury report Wednesday ahead of Sunday's Week 1 matchup with the Giants. Muse was dealing with an undisclosed injury toward the end of August, but it now appears that he's moved past the issue. The third-year tight end out of South Carolina is expected to serve primarily as a special-teamer in 2024, as he did the last two seasons.

Muse had three receptions for 19 yards on three targets in Saturday's preseason win over Cleveland. Muse appears set to win a roster spot with Robert Tonyan still out with a back injury. Muse could factor into the offense early in the season as a second or third receiving tight end if T.J. Hockenson misses games while working his way back from a torn ACL.

Muse re-signed with the Vikings on Tuesday. Muse was set to be an exclusive rights free agent, but he was able to come to an agreement with Minnesota before the start of the new league year. The 25-year-old tight end only appeared in two games last season, making one catch for 22 yards on his lone target.

Muse (knee) does not carry an injury designation into Sunday's game at Detroit, Matthew Coller of PurpleInsider.com reports. Muse is on track to suit up for his second game of the season in Week 18. He played exclusively on special teams in Week 17, and it's reasonable to expect he'll play a similar role Sunday.
