Johnson (undisclosed) was cut from the Panthers' practice-squad injured list Thursday, per the NFL's official transaction log. Johnson was placed on Carolina's practice squad injured list Dec. 3 with an undisclosed injury, which was set to keep him sidelined for at least four games. The running back will continue to focus on recovering from the injury and once healthy, look to latch on with a team that makes the postseason.

The Panthers placed Johnson (undisclosed) on the practice-squad/injured list Tuesday. Johnson will be sidelined for a minimum of four games. The 23-year-old went undrafted out of Mississippi State earlier this year and spent parts of the offseason with the Titans and Panthers. He's been on Carolina's practice squad all season but has yet to appear in a regular-season contest.

The Panthers waived Johnson on Monday, Darin Gantt of the team's official site reports. Johnson impressed during Carolina's most recent preseason game, touching the ball 20 times for 83 total yards and one touchdown, but it now appears that the team has decided to part ways with the 23-year-old. Now that Johnson has been waived, Carolina's running back room consists of Chuba Hubbard (knee), Jonathon Brooks (knee), Miles Sanders, Raheem Blackshear, Mike Boone and Jaden Shirden.

Johnson rushed 18 times for 83 yards and one touchdown while also hauling in each of his two targets for zero yards during Saturday's 15-12 preseason loss to the Jets. Each of Carolina's top three running backs sat for the second straight preseason game Saturday, allowing Johnson to make the most of his increased opportunities. The undrafted rookie out of Washington averaged an efficient 4.6 yards per carry Saturday, which likely boosts his chances of making Carolina's 53-man roster. While Johnson is still comfortably behind Chuba Hubbard, Miles Sanders and Raheem Blackshear, he has a shot at remaining in Carolina if he continues performing at a high level.

The Panthers signed Johnson on Wednesday, Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer reports. The Washington product was dropped by the Titans just two days ago, but he's already found a new home in Carolina. Johnson has a shot to make the Panthers' 53-man roster, as the team's No. 3 running back spot is seemingly open. Once Johnson arrives in Carolina, he's expected to compete with Miles Sanders and Raheem Blackshear for a depth role on the Panthers' offense.
