The Colts officially released Ryan on Wednesday, JJ Stankevitz of the team's official site reports. Per Scott Horner of the Indianapolis Star, by cutting the 37-year-old, the Colts freed up $17 million in salary cap space. In the wake of Ryan's departure, fellow quarterbacks Nick Foles and Sam Ehlinger remain under contract with Indianapolis, with the team expected to add depth at the position this offseason.

The Colts plan to release Ryan in the coming days, Jeff Howe of The Athletic reports. The veteran quarterback was supplanted as the Colts' starter in his lone season with the team, so it's not a surprise that he'll be let go ahead of the upcoming campaign. According to Joel A. Erickson of The Indianapolis Star, the transaction will provide the Colts with over $17 million in salary-cap relief.

Ryan is inactive for Monday night's game against the Chargers. With Ryan officially inactive Monday, Sam Ehlinger will back up Nick Foles in Week 16. Per Stephen Holder of ESPN.com, the Colts' current plan is to start Foles for the team's final three games.

Coach Jeff Saturday confirmed Monday that Ryan will remain the Colts' starting quarterback ahead of Saturday's game against the Vikings, JJ Stankevitz of the team's official site reports. In the Colts' 54-19 loss to the Cowboys in Week 13, Ryan completed 21 of his 37 pass attempts for 223 yards and two TDs, while throwing a trio of picks and losing a fumble in the contest. While the veteran QB no doubt has had his share of turnovers this season, Saturday suggested that the positioning of the signal-caller's receivers and breakdowns in pass protection have been contributing factors to Ryan's ball-security issues. In any case, Ryan will look to rebound this weekend following a bye week, while going up against a Minnesota defense that is allowing a league-high average of 287.2 passing yards per game to date.

Jeff Saturday took over for Frank Reich as the interim head coach for the Colts, and he made the right move to put Ryan back under center in Week 10 at Las Vegas. He scored 23 Fantasy points -- nine of those came with his legs as he rushed for 38 yards and a touchdown -- but I'm not sure you want to use him in one-quarterback leagues against the Eagles. However, Ryan should be added in all Superflex and two-quarterback leagues where available since he should remain the starter for the rest of the season. He's worth at least 15-20 percent of your remaining FAB in those formats.
