McCourty registered 71 tackles (54 solo), four interceptions and a fumble recovery while playing in all 17 games during the 2022 season. McCourty had another effective season despite his age, as he tied for the most interceptions and second most pass deflections on the team. The 2010 first-round pick is an unrestricted free agent this offseason and is also expected to consider retiring, so while it's still unknown if he'll play next year the veteran safety has shown he can still produce at a high level for either the Patriots or another team.

McCourty recorded six tackles (three solo) and two interceptions during Sunday's 22-17 win versus the Jets. McCourty logged his first interceptions of the season to end two straight Jets drives in the second half. The 13th-year defensive back also played 100 percent of the Patriots' defensive snaps for the first time since Week 4, as fellow safety Kyle Dugger (ankle) was ruled inactive pregame. McCourty has recorded 42 tackles (34 solo) and three passes defended over eight games this season.

McCourty suffered an injury to his abdomen in Sunday's matchup against the Jets and is questionable to return. McCourty picked up the injury in the first half of the contest after racking up two tackles. Cody Davis is likely to see a bigger role in McCourty's absence.

He's now up to 12 tackles through two games. The 2010 first-round pick has never topped 97 stops in a season.
