    The Detroit Lions might need to promote running back George Winn from the practice squad or sign a free agent because they currently have two healthy running backs, Reggie Bush and fullback Jed Collins, reports the Detroit Free Press. Joique Bell is recovering from a concussion, while Theo Riddick and Montell Owens are dealing with pulled hamstrings.All three were knocked out of Sunday's win over the Jets. Lions coach Jim Caldwell has not provided any updates on the injured trio. Detroit hosts Buffalo in Week 5.

    Hamstring injury knocks Montell Owens, Theo Riddick out of Week 4

    Detroit Lions running backs Montell Owens and Theo Riddick were both forced out of Sunday's game against the Jets due to hamstring injuries, per ESPN. Owens, who had been nursing a hamstring injury as of late, was on the sideline in street clothes in the second half. Riddick also re-aggravated the injury in the first half. He had one carry for two yards before leaving the game. The Lions will host the Bills in Week 5.

    Lions release extensive injury report Friday

    The questionable tag for premier wide receiver Calvin Johnson (ankle) highlights a lengthy injury report issued Friday by the Detroit Lions. Those ruled out are tight end Joseph Fauria (ankle), linebacker Travis Lewis (quad) and cornerback Cassius Vaughn (ankle). Safety Don Carey (hamstring) and tackle LaAdrian Waddle (calf) are doubtful. Fullback Montell Owens (hamstring) is the lone questionable. The probables are defensive ends Ezekiel Ansah (knee) and George Johnson (groin), running backs Joique Bell (knee) and Theo Riddick (hamstring), defensive tackle Nick Fairley (biceps) and safety James Ihedigbo (neck).

    Lions inactives Week 3

    The Detroit Lions have listed QB Kellen Moore, CB Cassius Vaughn, S James Ihedigbo, FB Montell Owens, LB Travis Lewis, T LaAdrian Waddle and WR Ryan Broyles as inactive Week 3 against the Packers.  Lewis and Vaughn had already been ruled out prior to gametime. Ihedigbo and Owens entered the game considered doubtful.

    Montell Owens exits game with head injury

    Detroit Lions running back Montell Owens left Friday's preseason game against the Jaguars in the opening quarter with a an apparent head injury, the team announced. Owens was taken back to the locker and was evaluated for a head injury. The team has not revealed the extent of the injury, though he was unable to return.

    Jed Collins expected to beat out Montell Owens

    Jed Collins should beat out Montell Owens in the Detroit Lions' training camp battle at fullback, reports MLive.com. The website favors Collins "based on his frame and his familiarity with offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi." Collins (6-1, 255) spent the last three seasons in New Orleans with Lombardi.
