Colin Kaepernick: Scheduled to work out for Raiders
Colin Kaepernick will work out for the Raiders this week, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.Kaepernick, now 34, last played professional football in 2016, the same year he started kneeling during the national anthem to protest racial injustice. The Raiders, meanwhile, currently have Nick Mullens, Jarrett Stidham and Chase Garbers as their depth quarterbacks behind Derek Carr. Of that group, Mullens is the clear favorite for the backup job, though Kaepernick might represent competition if he looks at all like his old self.

Colin Kaepernick: Works out for eight teams Saturday
Colin Kaepernick's 40-minute on-field workout Saturday was attended by representatives from eight NFL teams, ESPN's Vaughn McClure reports. It remains to be seen if Kaepernick -- who last played in the NFL in 2016 -- will be signed, but the 32-year-old signal caller has made it clear that he would welcome such an outcome. "We're out here. We're ready to play. We're ready to go anywhere," Kaepernick noted Saturday. "My agent, Jeff Nalley, is ready to talk [to] any team. I'll interview with any team at any time. I've been ready."

Colin Kaepernick: Auditioning for 11 team reps
The NFL announced that at least 11 teams will have representatives on hand for Colin Kaepernick's private workout in Atlanta on Saturday, ESPN.com reports.Former NFL coach Hue Jackson is scheduled to lead Kaepernick's workout in front of representatives from the Cardinals, Falcons, Browns, Broncos, Lions, Dolphins, Patriots, Giants, Jets, Buccaneers and Redskins. The league statement indicated that additional teams may still commit to evaluate Kaepernick's workout, which will also include an interview portion. The 32-year-old quarterback hasn't appeared in the NFL -- or in any professional league -- since 2016.

Colin Kaepernick: Private workout on tap
The NFL will hold a private workout in Atlanta for Colin Kaepernick on Saturday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. After reaching a settlement with the league in February regarding a collusion case, the situation surrounding Kaepernick has been nearly silent until Tuesday's development. According to Schefter, all 32 organizations are invited to attend the workout, which will include on-field work and an interview session. Kaepernick hasn't played since Week 17 of the 2016 campaign and turned 32 on Nov. 3, so it's unclear what type of shape he's in. That said, his representatives have said he's been "working out five days a week, for three years, in preparation to play again," and he could garner interest from one of the 16 teams that has been forced to start at least two signal callers this season.

Colin Kaepernick: Reaches settlement with NFL
Colin Kaepernick and Panthers safety Eric Reid have resolved their pending grievances with the NFL, subject to a confidentiality agreement.Kaepernick and Reid presumably will receive financial settlements for undisclosed amounts, thus ending their lengthy legal battle in a collusion case against the league. The latter recently inked a three-year deal with the Panthers, while the former hasn't been signed since he opted out of his contract with the 49ers in March 2017. This could pave the way for the 31-year-old quarterback to resume his football career, though he'll still have a hard time finding a contract that accurately reflects his on-field value. It doesn't help that Kaepernick hasn't played in a game since Week 17 of the 2016 season.

Colin Kaepernick: Garners interest from Seahawks
The Seahawks are exploring whether Colin Kaepernick is a fit as a backup to starting quarterback Russell Wilson, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.Since opting out of his contract in March 2017, Kaepernick has remained a free agent, despite a few organizations expressing interest in the QB. The Seahawks were among the interested parties, but ultimately he didn't land a gig last May. At the time, coach Pete Carroll explained away the dalliance, saying Kaepernick is "a starter in this league, and I can't imagine somebody won't give him a chance to play." On this occasion, Carroll and general manager John Schneider would like Kaepernick "to consider how he wants to proceed on everything," even his well-known national anthem protests from the 2016 season, per Rapoport. The latter point may be the one that decides his playing fate, as he's in the midst of a collusion grievance against the NFL, according to UPI.com. However the process plays out, Kaepernick's prospects in the NFL seem to be hanging on by a thread.

Colin Kaepernick: Visits with Seattle
Colin Kaepernick is scheduled to meet with the Seahawks on Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.Kaepernick had previously indicated that he hoped to land with a team who would give him an opportunity to compete for a starting job, but that won't be a realistic goal in Seattle, where Russell Wilson is entrenched as the long-term starter. Even so, Kaepernick would represent an excellent insurance policy behind Wilson, as he offers similar dual-threat skills. The Seahawks already have developmental quarterbacks Trevone Boykin and Jake Heaps behind Wilson on the depth chart, but Kaepernick would represent a significant upgrade over both signal callers.

Colin Kaepernick: Still hoping to find chance to compete
Colin Kaepernick still hopes to find an opportunity to compete for a starting job, ESPN.com reports.Kaepernick seemingly understands he'll have to settle for a salary well below the $14.5 million he walked away from in San Francisco, but he does still hope to get paid like a low-end starter or high-end backup -- which may be wishful thinking at this point. There really isn't an obvious fit, but Cleveland, Houston and Denver could all be options, depending on what happens with Tony Romo and the upcoming NFL Draft. It won't be surprising if Kaepernick remains unsigned into May or June.

49ers' Colin Kaepernick: Still facing uncertain NFL future
Niners GM John Lynch acknowledged that the team is unlikely to re-sign Colin Kaepernick, who recently opted out of the final year of his contract, The San Jose Mercury News reports.Kaepernick's decision to opt out was seemingly made for non-financial reasons, as he walked away from $14.5 million without any assurance of finding a similar deal. A return to San Francisco at a lower price was initially considered possible, but it seems highly unlikely now that the team has added Brian Hoyer and Matt Barkley. Kaepernick put up decent numbers for a woeful San Francisco 49ers squad last season, but his injury history, social activism and track record of inconsistent performance are all factors that may dissuade teams from taking a shot on the 29-year-old. He should still eventually be able to find work as a backup -- or a chance to compete for a starting job -- assuming he's willing to settle for a much smaller salary than he's grown accustomed to.

49ers' Colin Kaepernick: Will opt out of contract
Colin Kaepernick announced Wednesday that he would opt out of the final season of his contract with the San Francisco 49ers, ESPN.com's Nick Wagoner reports. In what was a widely-anticipated decision, Kaepernick will become a free agent for the first time in his career, affording the 49ers approximately $14.5 million in cap room in the process. After spending a good portion of 2015 in a backup role behind Blaine Gabbert, Kaepernick made 11 starts in 2016 and was quite productive from a statistical standpoint, posting a 90.7 passer rating and a 16:4 touchdown-to-interception ratio while also contributing 468 yards on the ground. It's unclear if other teams around the league view Kaepernick, who went only 1-10 as a starter last season, as a viable No. 1 quarterback, but now that he's a free agent, his acquisition cost would likely be lower than some of the other veteran signal callers who are expected to be available this offseason via trade.
