Jets tender NT Damon Harrison, S Jaiquawn Jarrett

The New York Jets announced that they have tendered nose tackle Damon Harrison and safety Jaiquawn Jarrett. Both players were restricted free agents. Harrison is the team's starting nose tackle, while Jarrett is a backup safety. If a team wants to sign Harrison, and the Jets don't match the offer, the Jets would receive a second-round pick in this year's draft due to his tender.  For Jarrett to be signed by an opposing team, they would have to give up a third-round draft choice.  Both contracts are worth $2.356 million.

Report: Jets benched Calvin Pryor due to disciplinary reasons

The New York Jets benched defensive back Calvin Pryor in favor of Jaiquawn Jarrett in Week 10 against Pittsburgh, and it may have been because of disciplinary reasons. Although Pryor suffered a stinger in the first quarter of his previous game, the first-round pick was late to multiple meetings, which may have been the reasoning behind his benching in Week 10, according to ESPN New York. With the Pryor on the bench, Jarrett thrived registering a pair of interceptions, a sack and a fumble recovery in a 20-13 victory. "It was a coach's decision," Pryor said, according to the New York Post. "We were going to rotate, but Jaiquawn Jarrett had a hell of a game, two interceptions, picked-up fumble. Stay with the hot guy, just keep him out there."
