    The Cowboys released Chris Jones (abdomen) on Wednesday, The Dallas Morning News reports.Jones was placed on injured reserve Nov. 7 after undergoing core-muscle surgery. It's uncertain if he's healthy yet, but the Cowboys ultimately chose to move on from Jones, saving $2 million in salary-cap space as a result. Jones has played 126 games for the Cowboys since his rookie season in 2011, averaging 44.5 yards per punt for his career.

    Report: Cowboys give tenders to RB Lance Dunbar and P Chris Jones

    The Dallas Cowboys have given low tenders to running back Lance Dunbar and punter Chris Jones, according to ESPN.com.  Each tender is worth $1.542 million.   Should either player sign with another team, the Cowboys will not receive any compensation due to both Dunbar and Jones coming into the NFL as undrafted free agents.   Dunbar spent his time as the third-down back for the last two seasons, bringing in 18 receptions for 217 while carrying the ball 29 times for 99 yards. Jones finished the 2014 season with an average of 45.4 yards per punt.

    Cowboys sign Tom Hornsey

    The Dallas Cowboys reached agreement on a contract with punter Tom Hornsey , according to MMQB's Robert Klemko. The Australian-born Hornsey won the Ray Guy Award for top college punter in 2013. He was with the Cowboys for two weeks in training camp last season.  Hornsey provides insurance for the Cowboys. 2014 punter Chris Jones is a restricted free agent.
