Cowboys re-sign Tyler Clutts, release Jed Collins

The Dallas Cowboys have re-signed fullback Tyler Clutts, the team announced.  Clutts joined the team late in 2013 and was the Cowboys' only fullback during the 2014 season. After his contract expired, the Cowboys brought in Jed Collins, who spent last year with the Lions. By bringing Clutts back, the Cowboys released Collins. Clutts will likely be Dallas' starting fullback again.  Clutts caught his first NFL touchdown pass in the playoffs during Dallas' loss to the Packers.

Jed Collins expected to beat out Montell Owens

Jed Collins should beat out Montell Owens in the Detroit Lions' training camp battle at fullback, reports MLive.com. Lions might keep two fullbacks

Detroit Lions general manager Martin Mayhew said the team might keep both fullbacks currently on the roster: Jed Collins and Montell Owens.  "Montell can play fullback, but Montell is sort of a tweener halfback/fullback guy," Mayhew told MLive.com. "Obviously Jed, he's a hammering fullback. I've seen him play fullback on some run downs and short-yardage situations, he can play some special teams for you in some other situations. So they're really two different types of players. "There's a way where you keep both of them, so we'll see how it all plays out."
