David Hawthorne (hand) was released by the Bills on Tuesday.The veteran linebacker signed on with the Bills on Aug. 7, but has since fractured his hand, which will result in an extended absence from the field. The Bills decided it would be better to let the 31-year-old linebacker walk than to keep him around while he nurses the injury.

David Hawthorne has a fracture in his hand, but isn't expected to miss an extended period of time, Joe Buscaglia of WKBW.com reports.Hawthorne appears to have avoided any kind of devastating injury to his hand, according to coach Rex Ryan. The 31-year-old will hope to get back to full health in order to secure his spot on the Buffalo Bills' roster.

Bills' David Hawthorne: Signs with Bills
David Hawthorne signed a contract with the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, NFL Agent Jordan Woy reports.Hawthorne joins the Bills after playing in New Orleans the past four seasons. Last year, he recorded 33 tackles and three forced fumbles while playing in 11 games. Buffalo currently has seven linebackers held out of practice due to injury, which is likely the reason the Bills signed Hawthorne on the same day as they signed fellow linebacker Brandon Spikes. Hawthorne will slide in at inside linebacker and has a decent chance at making the final roster.

David Hawthorne did not record a tackle in Thursday's game against the Falcons.With the return of Dannell Ellerbe to the New Orleans Saints' lineup, Hawthorne's playing time has dwindled, as he played only three snaps against the Falcons, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune. So long as Ellerbe is healthy, Hawthorne is not worth owning in IDP leagues.

Saints LB David Hawthorne takes a pay cut
New Orleans Saints inside linebacker David Hawthorne took a pay cut of $1.25 million for 2015 and $1.75 million for 2016, reports ESPN.com. The 29-year-old had 83 tackles, three sacks and an interception in 12 games last season. Hawthorne is now scheduled to make $3.25 million this season and $2.25 million in 2016.

OLB Junior Galette among Saints cleared for MNF
The New Orleans Saints' top pass rusher, outside linebacker Junior Galette, is active for Monday's game at Chicago after being listed as questionable with a neck injury. Galette leads the team with seven sacks. The New Orleans Saints have listed linebacker Junior Galette (knee) and tackle Terron Armstead (neck) as questionable for Monday's game against the Bears. Galette, who has 37 total tackles including 7.0 sacks, practiced Saturday on a limited basis after missing two practices earlier in the week because of the injury. David Hawthorne (hip), Akiem Hicks (ankle), and Keenan Lewis (illness) are all probable for Monday.
