    E.J. Biggers was released by the Patriots on Tuesday, Mike Reiss of ESPNBoston.com reports.Biggers wasn't expected to be more than a reserve depth player in New England, as Malcolm Butler and Logan Ryan have solidified themselves as the starting cornerbacks. With 34 career starts to his name, the veteran could draw interest from other teams that are looking to shore up their secondary.

Biggers signed a one-year, $840,000 contract with the New England Patriots, the Boston Globe's Ben Volin reports.With only $25,000 of the contract guaranteed, Biggers will likely have to prove that he's worthy of a roster spot. He has 34 career starts to his name, but he'll merely be competing for a depth role on a New England team that has Malcolm Butler and Logan Ryan locked in as the starting cornerbacks.

    Report: CB E.J. Biggers, WR Seyi Ajirotutu sign with Eagles

    The Philadelphia Eagles have agreed to one-year deals with cornerback E.J. Biggers and wide receiver Seyi Ajirotutu, according to the Baltimore Sun. Biggers spent the last two seasons with the Redskins after joining the Buccaneers in 2009. Over his six-year career, the 27-year-old has compiled 235 total tackles, 34 passes defensed, four interceptions and two forced fumbles. Ajirotutu, 27, was a special teams ace for the Chargers for four of the last five seasons. As a receiver, he has 24 receptions for 420 yards and three touchdowns.
