Barkevious Mingo agreed Tuesday with the Atlanta Falcons on a one-year deal, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.Mingo hasn't lived up to his draft slot (sixth overall in 2013), but he has made 126 regular-season appearances in the NFL, recording 255 tackles and 12.5 sacks while playing at least one full season for six different teams. He logged 390 defensive snaps and 374 special-teams snaps for the Bears last season, finishing with 35 tackles and 2.5 sacks in 16 games. A move to Atlanta could lead to a few more defensive snaps, but the 30-year-old Mingo still figures to line up with the backups at the start of camp.

Bears' Barkevious Mingo: Tagged as questionable

Barkevious Mingo (shoulder) is considered questionable for Monday's game versus the Vikings. After a trio of limited practices this week, Mingo's status for Week 10 is still in question. The veteran linebacker has played at least 20 defensive snaps in eight of nine games this year. James Vaughters and rookie Trevis Gipson could handle those reps if Mingo is unavailable.

Texans' Barkevious Mingo: Shipped to Houston

The Houston Texans acquired Barkevious Mingo, linebacker Jacob Martin and a future third-round pick from the Seahawks on Saturday in exchange for linebacker Jadeveon Clowney, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. While neither Mingo nor Martin can match Clowney's credentials as a pass rusher, they along with holdover Brennan Scarlett will at least provide the Texans with some stopgap options for the edge spot opposite starter Whitney Mercilus. Seahawks' Barkevious Mingo: Headed for pass-rushing role

Head coach Pete Carroll said Barkevious Mingo is preparing for a pass-rushing role in advance of the 2019 season, John Boyle of the Seattle Seahawks' official site reports. "Last year it was Sam backer and a little bit of pass-rush stuff, and he never really got to dig in. He can make problems for the opponent because he's so fast and so long, so we will really try to accentuate that, and we'll do that again through camp. We want to really specialize him as a rusher knowing he can play the 'backer spot," Carroll said on the final day of minicamp.Carroll reportedly wants to get Bobby Wagner, K.J. Wright and Mychal Kendricks on the field at the same time, so it sounds like Mingo isn't headed for the same starting strongside linebacker role he had in 2018. That Shaquem Griffin is also working at strongside linebacker now suggests there may not be many snaps at linebacker to be had. While it's not clear if he'll have to put his hand in the dirt, Mingo doesn't seem likely to see another 517 defensive snaps like he did last year, though it sounds like he could have plenty of opportunities to post more than the one sack he logged.
