The Seattle Seahawks have waived safety Dion Bailey to make room on their roster for Kam Chancellor. After playing 60 snaps in Week 1 against St. Louis, Bailey was replaced by DeShawn Snead last Sunday. Neither performed well, but it was Bailey who drew the short straw with the return of Chancellor. It remains to be seen where Bailey will wind up, but a return to the Seattle practice squad is possible.

Seahawks' Carroll says Bailey will start Week 1 in place of Chancellor
Seattle Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor continued his holdout Wednesday, which forced coach Pete Carroll to rule him out for the season opener against the Rams. “He’s not here right and so he’s not playing,” Carroll said, per The Seattle Times. “Today is Wednesday.” Carroll added he was disappointed Chancellor has continued to remain away from the team. “I am disappointed in this very much so,” Carroll said. “I think everybody should be because he’s been a great part of our team. It’s unfortunate that it’s come to this and he’s not here. “I’m just going to take it like this is Wednesday and we’ll just see what happens next. If this is Wednesday I’m probably going to be speaking the same way next week, saying the same thing to you.” Dion Bailey will start in Chancellor's absence.

The Seattle Seahawks announced several roster moves on Tuesday, per the team's official website. The team will keep defensive back Eric Pinkins (foot) on the reserve/non-football injury list for the remainder of the season. Seattle waived tight end Brett Brackett and wide receiver Chris Matthews from the practice squad and signed tight end Tony Moeaki and wide receiver Bryan Walters to the 53-man roster. The team also added safety Dion Bailey and wide receiver Jalen Saunders to the practice squad.
