Jaguars release wide receiver Ace Sanders

The Jacksonville Jaguars released wide receiver Ace Sanders on Friday. The 5-7, 178-pound receiver is in his third season in the NFL. Sanders, who was a fourth-round draft pick in 2013, had a promising rookie season. He appeared in 15 games (four starts), totaling 51 catches for 484 yards and one touchdown. He was targeted 87 times. Unfortunately, Sanders was pretty non-existent on offense in 2014. He appeared in 12 games (no starts), while catching just six passes for 55 yards. Sanders also contributed on special teams as a punt and kick returner.

Tight end Clay Harbor chipped in with three catches for 28 yards while running back Jordan Todman added three receptions for 27 yards and two rushes for six yards. Also contributing were tight end Nic Jacobs (1-14) and wideouts Marqise Lee (1-13), Ace Sanders (1-10) and Allen Hurns (1-9). Running back Toby Gerhart managed two yards on four carries for Jacksonville, which has embarked on its bye week.
