David Cobb: Trying out for Lions

David Cobb is working out for the Lions on Tuesday, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.Cobb's trying out alongside fellow running backs Josh Robinson and Bronson Hill, so it seems the Lions may not be content with their depth behind Ameer Abdullah and Theo Riddick (wrist) at this juncture. Cobb is easily the most accomplished of the three tryout players, as the 2015 fifth-rounder carried 52 times for 146 yards and one touchdown his rookie season with the Titans while Robinson and Hill only have 19 career carries combined. However, Cobb has averaged just 2.8 yards per carry and is a downhill runner who's likely a better fit in a power run scheme, something the Lions don't employ.

David Cobb: Signed to Steelers practice squad

David Cobb signed with the Pittsburgh practice squad Wednesday, NFL.com Ian Rapoport's reports.A fifth-round selection last year, Cobb fell out of the Titans' plans after the team traded for DeMarco Murray and drafted Derrick Henry. Given Pittsburgh's lack of proven talent behind Le'Veon Bell and DeAngelo Williams, it won't be surprising if Cobb eventually finds his way to the active roster. It would help his cause quite a bit if he could contribute on special teams.

David Cobb: Works out for Patriots

David Cobb worked out for the Patriots on Friday, ESPN's Field Yates reports.Cobb was released by the Titans earlier this week, but could be an interesting pickup for teams in need at running back. That's because Cobb was a fifth-round selection just last year, but had his rookie campaign largely derailed by a calf injury. In the end, he only played seven games, finishing with 146 rushing yards. With new management's additions of DeMarco Murray and Derrick Henry this offseason, Cobb was unfortunately made expendable in Tennessee, but at only 23 years old, the jury could still be out on his ability, which he'll try to prove elsewhere this season.

David Cobb: Released by Titans on Tuesday

David Cobb was released by the Titans on Tuesday, Jim Wyatt of titansonline.com reports.Tennessee opted to part ways with its 2015 fifth rounder Tuesday mainly due to depth complications at running back. The Titans acquired both DeMarco Murray and Derrick Henry in the offseason to dominate the team's rushing attack in 2016, making Cobb an expendable piece. The 23-year-old still has time to land with another club before the regular season rolls around, but time is definitely ticking.

    David Cobb: Released by Titans

David Cobb was released by the Titans on Tuesday. With the offseason additions of DeMarco Murray and Derrick Henry, Cobb found himself as the odd man out of the Titans' backfield. The second-year man never lived up to the hype that made him a fifth-round draft pick just a season ago. He spent the first half of his rookie season on IR and only rushed for 146 yards in seven games once he returned. Given that he's only 23, Cobb could find work on a team looking to boost up their backfield.

Titans' David Cobb: Just one yard in third preseason game

David Cobb rushed twice for one yard and went without a target in Saturday's preseason win over the Raiders.Cobb got more action than Bishop Sankey, but both were outplayed by Derrick Henry, DeMarco Murray, Antonio Andrews and Dexter McCluster. The second-year running back's chances of making the Tennessee Titans' roster are very much in doubt after he averaged a paltry 2.8 yards per carry on 52 attempts as a rookie.

Titans' David Cobb: Loses a fumble in preseason loss

David Cobb gained 27 yards on six carries and one yard on one reception, also losing a fumble, in Saturday's preseason game against the Panthers.Cobb didn't get a carry until midway through the third quarter, and he promptly responded by losing a fumble. He did partially redeem himself later in the game, but it wasn't enough to move him off of the roster bubble. Cobb is competing with Antonio Andrews, Bishop Sankey and David Fluellen for what will likely just be one roster spot.,
