Chargers' Denzel Perryman: Links back up with Bolts
Perry agreed to sign a one-year, $3 million deal with the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.Denzel Perryman will rejoin the team for which he played during the first six seasons of his career. The 31-year-old popped in his first season after leaving the Chargers, tallying a career-high 154 tackles en route to his first career Pro Bowl campaign with the Raiders in 2021. His production came back down to earth in both of the last two seasons, as he tallied 83 tackles with the Raiders in 2022 before logging 76 tackles with the Texans in 2023. The 5-foot-11 inside linebacker also appeared in just 12 regular-season games during each of those campaigns. Perryman should provide a solid veteran presence for the Chargers, as the team currently includes two rather unproven inside linebackers in Nick Niemann and Daiyan Henley.

Denzel Perryman was suspended by the NFL on Tuesday for three games due to repeated violations of playing rules intended to protect the health and safety of players, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.Perryman's suspension comes after he lowered his head and delivered a blow to Ja'Marr Chase in the fourth quarter of Sunday's win over the Bengals, which resulted in a flag for unnecessary roughness. Due to having received six violations for this rule in his career, including in Week 2 of this season, Vice President of Football Operations Jon Runyan handed down the suspension. Perryman can appeal the suspension, but it's not yet known if he will. While the 30-year-old is out of action, Henry To'oTo'o, Christian Harris and Blake Cashman should be the Houston Texans' primary options at linebacker.
