Eric Ebron: Works out with Giants

Eric Ebron had a tryout with the Giants on Monday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.Ebron was one of two free-agent tight ends brought in for a workout with New York on Monday, according to Howard Balzer of SI.com. The 2014 first-round pick of the Lions enjoyed a slight bounce-back campaign with the Steelers in 2020 -- 56 catches for 558 yards and five touchdowns over five games -- but he quickly was edged out by rookie tight end Pat Freiermuth last year. As a result, Ebron caught just 12 of 18 targets for 84 yards and one score before his 2021 season was cut short to just eight games due to a knee injury. The 29-year-old received full medical clearance in February, and he could provide a veteran presence with a new team heading into this coming season.

Eric Ebron: Unlikely to return to Pittsburgh

Eric Ebron is highly unlikely to return to the Steelers for the 2022 season, Brian Batko of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.Ebron saw a slight bounce-back year during his first season with the Steelers in 2020, but he appeared in just eight games while battling injuries in 2021. Across those eight appearances, he hauled in just 12 of 18 targets for 84 yards and a touchdown, all career-worst marks. Pat Freiermuth established himself as the Steelers' clear No. 1 tight end last year, while Zach Gentry should operate as the secondary option in 2022 if Ebron ultimately doesn't return. After Ebron failed to carve out a consistent role in Pittsburgh's pass-heavy offense, he's unlikely to enter the 2022 campaign as a reliable fantasy option, regardless of his landing spot.

Steelers' Eric Ebron: Cleared from knee injury

Eric Ebron (knee) announced Wednesday via his personal Twitter account that he received full medical clearance.Ebron missed the final seven games of 2021 with a knee injury after missing a pair of games midseason with a hamstring issue. He finished with a 12-84-1 receiving line across the eight games he did play, down from 56-558-5 his first year in Pittsburgh. Unless he re-signs with the Pittsburgh Steelers first, Ebron will become an unrestricted free agent in mid-March, about a month before his 29th birthday.

Steelers' Eric Ebron: Not practicing, as expected

Eric Ebron (knee) didn't practice Wednesday, Teresa Varley of the Pittsburgh Steelers' official site reports.Ebron is expected to miss multiple games after injuring his knee in Sunday's loss to the Chargers. Steelers' Eric Ebron: Likely headed for extended absence

Eric Ebron is expected to miss extended time and could require surgery to address the knee injury he sustained in the Pittsburgh Steelers' Week 11 loss to the Chargers, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.Though Mike Tomlin characterized Ebron as questionable for the Steelers' upcoming game Sunday against the Bengals, the coach noted the team wouldn't have a better sense of the tight end's status until after he underwent further evaluation. Ebron was seemingly sent in for additional testing Tuesday, and the initial diagnosis he received apparently wasn't encouraging. According to Fowler, Ebron is set to get a second opinion on his knee, but a procedure of some sort is considered the most likely outcome at this juncture. The Steelers signed another tight end (Kevin Rader) to the 53-man roster Tuesday, signaling that Ebron isn't expected to be ready to go for at least Sunday's game.

Steelers' Eric Ebron: Iffy for Week 12

Eric Ebron (knee) is still being evaluated and is considered questionable as the Pittsburgh Steelers begin preparations for Sunday's game against the Bengals, Missi Matthews of the Steelers' official site reports.Ebron was sidelined for Weeks 8 and 9 with a hamstring injury, but the veteran tight end is now dealing with a new concern after hurting his knee over the weekend in the Steelers' 41-37 loss to the Chargers. Pittsburgh will presumably wait and see what Ebron is able to do in practices Wednesday through Friday before reassessing his odds of playing this weekend, but if he is forced to miss his third game of the season, Zach Gentry would be the next man up for reps behind top tight end Pat Freiermuth.

Steelers' Eric Ebron: Hurts knee against Chargers

Eric Ebron suffered a knee injury in Sunday's game against the Chargers and was unable to come back into the game, Brooke Pryor of ESPN reports.Ebron had three catches for 24 yards, including a five-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter prior to getting hurt. Despite finding the end zone, Ebron's a distant second behind Pat Freiermuth -- who also scored a touchdown while racking up seven targets -- in Pittsburgh's pecking order at tight end. Ebron's practice participation, or lack there of, during the week should help clarify his chances of suiting up in Week 12 against the Bengals.

Steelers' Eric Ebron: Full participant Thursday

Eric Ebron (hamstring) fully participated in Thursday's practice session, Dale Lolley of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.Ebron was listed as a limited participant for Wednesday's walkthrough, but he didn't have any limitations Thursday. Although he missed the last two games due to a hamstring injury, it appears as though he'll be back in action Sunday against Detroit. The 28-year-old hasn't been targeted more than three times in any of his six appearance to begin the year, and he'll likely take on a secondary role behind rookie Pat Freiermuth, who has brought in 16 of 20 targets for 145 yards and three touchdowns across the last three games.
