    Buccaneers waive LB Kourtnei Brown

    Linebacker Kourtnei Brown was waived by the Bucs on Tuesday, Scott Smith of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers official website reports. After being listed inactive Week 1, Brown got on the field for nine defensive snaps and 10 additional plays on special teams this past Sunday against the Saints. The 27-year-old linebacker/defensive end was claimed off waivers by Tampa after being a part of the Texans' final cuts, despite an impressive preseason in which he posted three sacks, an interception returned for a touchdown and a fumble recovery. Brown's roster spot was filled by the signing of former Chief Josh Martin.

    Rams slice down roster to 53

    The St. Louis Rams have issued a series of cuts to reach the mandated roster of limit of 53 for the regular season. Those on the offensive side of the ball are wide receivers Emory Blake, Austin Franklin and Justin Veltung, linemen Sean Hooey, Mitchell Van Dyk, Travis Bond and Brandon Washington, quarterback Garrett Gilbert and tight end Brad Smelley. Defenders now gone are linemen Kourtnei Brown, Matt Conrath and Deantre Harlan, defensive backs Christian Bryant, Darren Woodard, Avery Cunningham and Greg Reid and linebackers Aaron Hill, Etienne Sabino, Phillip Seward and Lawrence Wilson.
