Bobby Rainey: Sent packing
The Ravens released Bobby Rainey on Monday, Jeff Zrebiec of The Baltimore Sun reports.Rainey's release opens up a roster spot for the addition of offensive lineman Andrew Donnal, formerly of the Rams. Furthermore, it could be a sign that wide receiver Michael Campanaro is ready to return to his return-man role on special teams, in addition to Danny Woodhead (knee), who's been designated to return from IR and should return to the fold within a matter of weeks.

Ravens' Bobby Rainey: Reaches deal with Baltimore
Bobby Rainey signed a contract with the Baltimore Ravens on Tuesday. After signing Alex Collins off the practice squad earlier this season following Danny Woodhead's (hamstring) placement on injured reserve, the Ravens will add Rainey to their running back corps with Terrance West (calf) expected to at least miss Baltimore's Week 6 contest against the Bears, if not further games beyond that. Rainey, who attended training camp with the Ravens before being cut in September, has four seasons of NFL experience, splitting time with the Browns, Buccaneers and Giants and averaging 4.0 yards per carry for his career. The 30-year-old is also able to contribute as a pass catcher out of the backfield and as a kick returner, but it's expected that he'll be no better than third on the depth chart at running back behind Collins and Javorius Allen until West reenters the mix. Since Collins has shown promise as a runner and Allen is an adept receiver, it's not expected that Rainey will see many snaps on offense during his time with Baltimore.

Bobby Rainey: Let go by Ravens
Bobby Rainey was released by the Ravens on Friday, Jeff Zrebiec of The Baltimore Sun reports.Rainey signed with the Ravens in late July for some added depth in the backfield after the team lost Kenneth Dixon to meniscus surgery. He was essentially competing for the No. 3 spot on the running back depth chart behind Terrance West and Danny Woodhead, but it's likely that spot will go to Javorius Allen. Rainey likely still has value for some NFL teams, as he boasts a fairly reliable track record of both health and production.

Giants' Bobby Rainey: Catches pass in loss
Bobby Rainey caught a 13-yard pass off of two targets in Thursday's loss to Philadelphia. The catch was just Rainey's third touch since New York's Week 8 bye. Thursday was the veteran's first game with double-digit offensive snaps since the bye as he has settled into more of a special-teams role after looking like a potential scatback earlier in the year.

Giants' Bobby Rainey: Suiting up for Giants
Bobby Rainey (calf) is active for Sunday's matchup against the Eagles, Ralph Vacchiano of SNY.TV reports.Rainey was limited in practice all week due to a calf injury, but it won't prevent him from suiting up and providing depth in the New York backfield Sunday. Rashad Jennings has taken back over as the lead back since his Week 6 return, but Rainey still logged 39 total offensive snaps in the two weeks prior to the Week 8 bye, in addition to his regular role on special teams. Though he'll be active and presumably have a complementary role to Jennings, it's a tough fantasy matchup given the fact that the Eagles have allowed just four rushing touchdowns this season.

Giants' Bobby Rainey: Uncertain to play in Week 9
Bobby Rainey (calf) is questionable to play Sunday against the Eagles.Rainey wasn't thought to be injured heading into the New York Giants' Week 8 bye, but he was limited in every practice this week and may become a game-time decision for Sunday's divisional matchup. In such a scenario, look for Rashad Jennings, Orleans Darkwa and Paul Perkins to split the available work out of the backfield.

Giants' Bobby Rainey: Limited Wednesday
Bobby Rainey was limited during Wednesday's practice due to a calf injury, SNY.TV reports. His injury provides Rashad Jennings, Orleans Darkwa and rookie Paul Perkins with additional reps out of the backfield, although Rainey's status for Sunday's matchup against the Eagles remains up in the air.

Giants' Bobby Rainey: Six carries
Bobby Rainey had six carries for 13 yards and two catches for 16 more Sunday against the Ravens.Rainey's getting work subbing in for Rashad Jennings and coming out of the backfield on passing downs. Rookie Paul Perkins looks quicker and more explosive than either veteran, but apparently his pass blocking is poor, giving Rainey a chance to continue in this role.

Giants' Bobby Rainey: Lone bright spot
Bobby Rainey had five carries for 22 yards and six catches for 52 more in Sunday night's loss to the Packers. It was an ugly day for the offense as a whole, but Rainey was effective as a runner and a receiver. He'll maintain his third-down role for the foreseeable future with Shane Vereen (triceps) out.

Giants' Bobby Rainey: Productive game in Monday's loss
Bobby Rainey rushed the ball four times for 22 yards and hauled in seven receptions for 43 yards in Monday night's loss to the Vikings.Rainey was quiet the first three weeks of the season, but with Shane Vereen (triceps) landing on IR and Rashad Jennings (thumb) inactive for Monday's game, an immediate hole opened in the New York Giants' backfield. Rainey showcased his skill set as both a runner and a pass-catching option. With Jennings' status still up in the air for Week 5, the 28-year-old Rainey could have another strong week as he competes for reps with Orleans Darkwa.
