Eagles' Matt Jones: Totals 78 yards Thursday

Matt Jones rushed nine times for 54 yards and caught all four of his targets for 24 more yards in Thursday's preseason win over the Jets.He managed not to fumble in this one, at least. It was Jones' best effort of the preseason, although he is still considered a longshot to make the 53-man roster leading up to the Philadelphia Eagles' Week 1 matchup at Atlanta. Jay Ajayi's slow progress in recovering from a lower-body injury may help the fourth-year vet's case to make the team, but even so, he is still believed to be behind Wendell Smallwood and rookie Josh Adams for a spot behind Corey Clement and Darren Sproles. Therefore, he has minimal fantasy value at the moment.

Eagles' Matt Jones: Tallies 42 yards

Matt Jones rushed for 12 yards on three carries and added 30 yards on six catches during Thursday's 5-0 loss to the Browns. He lost a fumble during the contest.Jones snagged a screen pass with the Philadelphia Eagles driving in the second quarter. He turned up field and promptly had the ball punched out for a fumble. He's battling for a roster spot on an Eagles team that could use some quality depth and Jones has the natural talent to play a role behind Jay Ajayi. After a career full of fumbling issues, however, Jones' play on Thursday might scare Philly's brass away.

Eagles' Matt Jones: Ready for extended look

Matt Jones and Wendell Smallwood likely will be the only two Philadelphia running backs available for Thursday's preseason game against the Browns, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports. In a backfield littered with minor injuries, Jones was unable to boost his stock in last week's preseason loss to New England, taking six carries for 19 yards and catching six of nine targets for 32 yards. His most memorable play from the game was a terrible drop that turned into an interception, but he'll at least have the opportunity to bounce back Thursday in Cleveland. A spot on the 53-man roster still feels like a stretch.

Eagles' Matt Jones: Totals 51 scrimmage yards

Matt Jones had six carries for 19 yards and caught six of nine targets for 32 yards in Thursday's preseason game against the Patriots.Jones failed to gain much steam in the Philadelphia Eagles' running game, and despite being active through the air, he had a rough night with three drops. The 25-year-old led the team's running backs with 33 offensive snaps -- compared to Wendell Smallwood's 30. He could continue to see an uptick in opportunity during what's left of training camp, depending on how long Corey Clement (undisclosed), Josh Adams (undisclosed) and Donnel Pumphrey (leg) remain sidelined.

Eagles' Matt Jones: Could be busy Thursday

Matt Jones expects to see plenty of work in Thursday's preseason game against the Patriots, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.Fellow running backs Corey Clement, Donnel Pumphrey and Josh Adams missed Tuesday's practice and are thus unlikely to play Thursday. Meanwhile, we doubt the team will employ starter Jay Ajayi extensively. As a result, Jones and Wendell Smallwood could be busy in the contest. Adjust your DFS lineups accordingly.

Eagles' Matt Jones: Returns to practice

Matt Jones (leg) participated in Saturday's practice, Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.Jones has been sidelined for a little over a week with the leg injury and was forced to miss the team's preseason opener as a result. With his return to practice, Jones should be in good shape to play in Thursday's preseason game against the Patriots.

Eagles' Matt Jones: Unavailable for preseason opener

Matt Jones (leg) is not in uniform for Thursday's preseason opener, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports. In a backfield full of candidates on similar footing, Jones' absence from Thursday's contest could drop him down the depth chart should Wendell Smallwood and/or Josh Adams post a strong showing. A long absence would further hurt his chances of making the 53-man roster, but a timeline for his return has not been disclosed at this point.

Eagles' Matt Jones: Missing practice with leg injury

Matt Jones is missing practice with a lower body injury, Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. The exact nature of Jones' injury isn't clear, and thus it's hard to say when he might be back on the field. Any sort of extended absence isn't good for his chances of making the final roster.

Eagles' Matt Jones: Latches on with Philadelphia

Matt Jones agreed to a contract Wednesday with the Philadelphia Eagles, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.Jones struggled to find a role with the Colts last season behind the likes of Frank Gore and Marlon Mack, suiting up for only five games after opening the campaign on the practice squad. The 2015 third-round pick finished 2018 with only five carries for 14 yards before getting cut loose shortly after the NFL draft. The Eagles quickly picked Jones up after the Colts released him, but it seems like he'll be a long shot to make the Super Bowl champions' 53-man roster this fall.

    Matt Jones: Released by Colts

Matt Jones was released by the Colts on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.A 2015 third-round pick, Jones only lasted two seasons with the Redskins and then spent last year buried on the Colts' depth chart. He has plenty of time to find another team before training camp, but he'll probably be a long shot to make a 53-man roster even if he finds a favorable landing spot.
