The Jets opted to release Zach Sudfeld on Saturday, Connor Hughes of The Star Ledger reports.Sudfeld was hoping to provide some depth at tight end for the Jets. He was competing with Jace Amaro, Wes Saxton, and Brandon Bostick for a backup role. He compiled 74 yards and a touchdown on seven receptions in four preseason games.

Jets' receivers don't get many opportunities on MNF
With the New York Jets throwing 13 times Monday night, New York's receivers didn't get many opportunities. Wideout Percy Harvin caught one of three targets for 6 yards and rushed six times for 27 yards. Tight end Zach Sudfeld made a 20-yard catch. Wideout Eric Decker caught two of four targets for 18 yards. Receiver Jeremy Kerley had a 2-yard reception and ran twice for 38 yards. They'll all visit the Vikings in Week 14.

Zach Sudfeld gets some snaps with starters
New York Jets tight end Zach Sudfeld, a 6-7, 260-pounder, is getting some snaps with the starters as rookie Jaco Amaro struggles, reports The Star-Ledger. Sudfeld mostly runs with the second team and on special teams units. Signed midseason last year, Sudfeld said "it's interesting how much difference it makes knowing the playbook a little bit. Last year, coming out here a little bit, it was kind of learning on the fly. I just try to take advantage of the reps I get. "I do think that I have some ability to maybe stretch the field a little bit and kind of get out and run," he added. "I love playing in the West Coast [scheme]. It's a great offense for a tight end."
