The New York Jets have cut their roster down to 53 by waiving a number of players. Those on offense are quarterback Tajh Boyd and Matt Simms, wide receivers Clyde Gates and Stephen Hill, running backs Daryl Richardson and Alex Green, tight end Chris Pantale, linemen Brent Qvale and Caleb Schlauderaff. The defenders imclude defensive backs Rontez Miles, Jeremy Reeves, Johnny Patrick, Dimitri Patterson and Brandon Dixon, linemen Zach Thompson, Kerry Hyder and Tevita Finau and linebackers Garrett McIntyre and A.J. Edds. Linebacker Antwan Barnes has been placed on the PUP list.

With the 191st pick of the 2014 NFL Draft, the New York Jets selected cornerback Brandon Dixon from Northwest Missouri State. The 6-foot-0, 203-pound corner dazzled at the combine, clocking the fifth-fastest time by a defensive back (4.41 seconds). "I'm a man-press corner. I like to get my hands on receivers. I like to get physical at the line of scrimmage, Dixon told the Star-Ledger.
