Erik Swoope was cut by the Raiders on Tuesday, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.Swoope was recently signed by the team this offseason after appearing in seven games with the Colts in 2018. Raiders' Erik Swoope: Heading to Oakland
Erik Swoope signed a one-year deal with the Oakland Raiders on Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.Swoope appeared in seven games for the Colts last season, logging eight catches for 87 yards and three touchdowns on 10 targets. The 27-year-old was let go by the team Dec. 11 and was claimed off waivers by the Saints a day later, but he was waived again shortly after failing a physical. Swoope could offer the Raiders a red-zone threat -- it's a small sample size, but he caught three touchdowns off six red-zone targets in 2018 -- but he will face competition from former Seahawk Luke Willson and fourth-round pick Foster Moreau, among others.

Erik Swoope: Rejoins Indy's practice squad
The Colts re-signed Erik Swoope to their practice squad Wednesday. For the third time this season, Swoope will return to the organization after having previously been released. Following his most recent release, it initially looked as though Swoope would find a home in New Orleans, but the Saints sent him back to the waiver wire after he failed a physical. The Colts are apparently more comfortable with Swoope's health and could promote him to the active roster ahead of their Week 17 matchup with the Titans if there's any concern about top tight end Eric Ebron's (concussion) availability for that contest.

Saints' Erik Swoope: Headed to the Bayou
The New Orleans Saints claimed Erik Swoope off waivers Wednesday, Mike Triplett of ESPN.com reports. After the Colts dropped him from their roster earlier this week, Swoope will find a home in New Orleans and fortify the team's depth at tight end. Most of Swoope's initial opportunities will likely come on special teams, but at 6-foot-4 and 225 pounds with quality athleticism, the 26-year-old could eventually establish himself as a viable red-zone threat for the Saints.

Erik Swoope: Parts ways with Indianapolis
The Colts waived Erik Swoope on Tuesday.Though he hasn't played more than 22 offensive snaps in any of his seven games this season, Swoope had offered some marginal value in two-tight-end formats after scoring three times on only eight receptions. His red-zone efficiency aside, Swoope clearly wasn't as held in high regard by the Colts as the other college-basketball-player-turned-tight-end on the roster, Mo Alie-Cox (calf). The team's decision to cut Swoope likely signals that Indianapolis expects Alie-Cox to return to action Sunday against Dallas following a three-game absence.
