Mark Walton: Cleared from November charge

Mark Walton's attorney, Michael Gottlieb, said Wednesday that the state of Florida has dropped the charge of aggravated battery of a pregnant woman that the running back faced following a Nov. 19 arrest, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Before Miami released Walton the same day as the arrest, he had been serving as the Dolphins' top running back until the NFL suspended him for four games Nov. 4 due to a prior violation of the league's conduct and substance abuse policies. Even though Walton's legal status has been resolved for the November incident, it bears mentioning that he was arrested again in February for violating a restraining order. With that in mind, Rapoport notes that the NFL is still reviewing Walton for potential discipline, making it uncertain if or when he may be allowed to resume his career.

Mark Walton: Arrested in Miami on Thursday

Mark Walton has been arrested in Miami for violating a restraining order, Cristina Alexander or WSVN 7 News reports.Walton, who has been arrested five times in the last year, was cut by the Dolphins in November due to a separate incident with the law. The 22-year-old recently concluded a four-game ban for violating the NFL's conduct and substance abuse policy in December, but it now looks possible that another suspension could be in line. Walton's continued legal issues serve to make his chances of earning an opportunity with a new team increasingly unlikely.

    Mark Walton: Suspension over

Mark Walton's four-game suspension for violating the NFL's conduct and substance abuse policy was lifted Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports. This suspension was due to conduct over the summer, but Walton was cut by the Dolphins following a separate incident in November. He likely won't be picked up again this year considering another suspension appears imminent.

    Mark Walton: Cut by Miami

The Dolphins waived Mark Walton (suspension) on Tuesday.Walton had missed the Dolphins' previous two contests while serving a four-game suspension due to violations of the NFL's personal conduct and substance abuse policies, which were related to his three arrests during the offseason. According to a press release issued Tuesday by the Dolphins, Walton was recently involved in another "police matter," and his latest brush with the law will end up costing him his job. With Walton no longer in line to rejoin Miami when his suspension lapses in December, Kalen Ballage should gain some security in the lead role, despite his remarkably poor efficiency this season (1.9 yards per carry on 64 attempts).

Dolphins' Mark Walton: Faces four-game suspension

Mark Walton has been suspended four games for violating the NFL's conduct and substance abuse policy, Hal Habib of The Palm Beach Post reports. He'll be eligible to play next Dec. 2 against the Jets.According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, this suspension is a result of three offseason arrests and not because of a new issue. Walton combined for 41 yards on 15 touches in Week 9's win over the Jets, and now he'll be kept off the field until the Miami Dolphins play Gang Green again. The Dolphins figure to roll out Kalen Ballage as their lead back in Sunday's matchup against the Colts while Patrick Laird and Myles Gaskin could pick up the remaining reps.

Dolphins' Mark Walton: Quiet in team's first win

Mark Walton rushed 12 times for 29 yards and caught three of four targets for 12 yards in Sunday's 26-18 win over the Jets.Walton couldn't get much going on the ground, even against a Jets team that was missing the top four inside linebackers on its depth chart due to injuries. At least it's clear that Walton's now the lead back with Kenyan Drake out of the picture, as Walton got 12 carries to Kalen Ballage's seven. The little fantasy value to be found in Miami lies in the passing game, but Walton will at least be a strong candidate to keep receiving double-digit touches against the Colts in Week 10 and beyond.

Dolphins' Mark Walton: Leads backfield in loss

Mark Walton carried the ball 11 times for 35 yards and fumbled once during Monday's 27-14 loss to the Steelers. He also caught three of six targets for 19 yards.Meanwhile, Kalen Ballage logged three carries for eight yards and caught one pass for 11 yards. Following the trade of Kenyan Drake to the Cardinals, Walton profiles as the No. 1 option in Miami's backfield. However, game flow didn't work out in the second-year pro's favor versus Pittsburgh, as the Miami Dolphins spent the second half of the contest playing catch-up. That's a pattern that could continue to play out for Walton (and the winless Miami offense) this season, but he at least has a solid matchup against the Jets' porous defense coming up in Week 9.

    Dolphins' Mark Walton: Opportunity knocks

Mark Walton is in line to head Miami's backfield Monday night against the Steelers, and beyond, with Kenyan Drake reportedly having been dealt to the Cardinals, per Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald .Kalen Ballage will also be in the mix, but Walton's 14-carry, 66-yard effort in Week 7's loss to the Bills should afford him the opportunity to lead the Miami Dolphins' ground game in the coming weeks, now that there's one less back (Drake) to contend with for touches. With the Dolphins 0-6, game flows aren't always going to favor Walton, but with an expanded role on tap, he's worth scooping up if he's still available.

Dolphins' Mark Walton: Poised to see expanded role

With Adam H. Beasley of the Miami Herald relaying that Kenyan Drake (not injury-related) won't travel with the Miami Dolphins for Monday night's game at Pittsburgh, Mark Walton is in line to head the team's Week 8 backfield. It's assumed that Drake not traveling with the team likely foreshadows a deal prior to Tuesday's NFL trade deadline. If the team moves Drake, Walton -- who led the team with 14 carries in Week 7 -- will be in line to serve as the team's lead back in the coming weeks, with Kalen Ballage also in the mix.

Dolphins' Mark Walton: Paces backfield in loss

Mark Walton rushed 14 times for 66 yards and brought in his only target for minus-8 yards in the Miami Dolphins' 31-21 loss to the Bills on Sunday.Walton led the way in carries and rushing yardage for Miami, comfortably outpacing both Kenyan Drake and Kalen Ballage. The workload was the highest of the season for Walton by far, and considering the type of solid ground production he parlayed it into, he presumably secured a larger role heading into a Week 8 Monday night matchup versus the Steelers.
