Patriots' Nick Brossette: Logs 22 carries Thursday
Nick Brossette carried 22 times for 66 yards and a TD in Thursday's preseason opener, a 31-3 win over the Lions.Brossette also converted a two-point conversion in the contest. With Sony Michel, James White, Damien Harris, Rex Burkhead and Brandon Bolden also in the team's backfield mix, the odds are against Brossette making the New England Patriots' final roster. That said, if he ends up being cut by the team, the LSU product would be a candidate for the practice squad.

Nick Brossette: Heading to New England
The Patriots are expected to sign Nick Brossette as an undrafted free agent.Brossette was finally able to lead the LSU backfield in 2018 after he was stuck behind Leonard Fournette for much of his career. Brossette made the most of his opportunity, rushing for 1,039 yards and 14 touchdowns in 13 games for the Tigers. He will face an uphill battle for a roster spot, especially after the Patriots drafted Alabama product Damien Harris in the third round.
