Chargers' Justin Herbert: Two more turnovers in Week 5

Justin Herbert completed 14 of 24 passes for 121 yards, one touchdown and one interception, reeled off 54 yards on six carries and fumbled twice (one lost) during Sunday's 23-17 loss to the Broncos.Herbert's season-low number of pass attempts amounted to by far his lowest yardage total through the air through five contests this season. He also turned over the ball two times, which resulted in two late made field goals for Denver (i.e. the margin of defeat) and bringing his total on the campaign to nine (seven INTs, two lost fumbles). Granted, Herbert was working without WR Quentin Johnston (chest, inactive), while Ladd McConkey (foot) was active but doesn't appear to have played a snap, so the deck was stacked against him versus a tough defense. Herbert's next chance to get right is next Sunday versus the 4-0 Chiefs.

Chargers' Justin Herbert: Uneven play continues in Week 4

Justin Herbert was 19-for-31 passing for 189 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions, took six carries for 40 yards and lost a fumble during Sunday's 30-23 loss in Seattle.Herbert's three turnovers led directly to seven points for the Seahawks -- i.e. L.A.'s margin of defeat -- and he didn't reach the 200-yard threshold through the air for the second time in four contests this season. Having Ladd McConkey at less than 100 percent didn't help matters, and the team's top wide receiver appeared to aggravate an existing foot injury in the second half and didn't return to action. Herbert boasts just four touchdown passes versus six interceptions in 2026, and he may find difficulty achieving his first win of the campaign next Sunday against the Broncos.

Chargers' Justin Herbert: Uneven performance in loss

Justin Herbert completed 20 of 34 passes for 226 yards with one touchdown and one interception and rushed four times for 17 yards in the Los Angeles Chargers' 24-16 loss to the Bills on Sunday.Herbert finished with some serviceable numbers, but his play-to-play consistency lacked at times in a tough road environment. The 2020 first-round pick connected with a relatively narrow pool of six targets, and his one touchdown throw came via a shovel pass to Keaton Mitchell to cap off the opening drive of the game. Herbert also saw what was originally ruled a lost fumble returned for a touchdown reversed just before the two-minute warning, and through three games, he's completed only 59.1 percent of his passes while mustering a 3:4 TD:INT during an alarmingly winless start to the season for the Chargers. Herbert and his teammates draw a second straight unenviable assignment in Week 4, as they travel to face the defending champion Seahawks next Sunday afternoon.

Chargers' Justin Herbert: Game-long struggles in loss

Justin Herbert completed 15 of 27 passes for 192 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions while adding three carries for two yards in the Los Angeles Chargers' 26-14 loss to the Raiders on Sunday. He also committed three fumbles, with Herbert recovering one and the other two also staying with Los Angeles.Herbert's stat line tells the tale of an ugly and alarming Week 2 loss for the Chargers in which Herbert was constantly harassed and took three sacks in addition to tossing his pair of picks. The embattled signal-caller did connect with nine different targets overall, but no Bolts pass catcher had more than three receptions or 53 receiving yards. Herbert has completed just 59.3 percent of his passes over the first two games, and he'll have plenty of pressure on his shoulders for a suddenly critical Week 3 road matchup against the Bills next Sunday.

Chargers' Justin Herbert: Disappointing in Week 1 loss

Justin Herbert completed 17 of 27 passes for 209 yards with one touchdown and one interception while adding five rushes for 29 yards in the Los Angeles Chargers' 26-14 loss to the Cardinals on Sunday.Herbert's final line was about as unremarkable as his performance in the shocking season-opening loss, one where the 2020 first-round pick was sacked three times in addition to his one interception. He had a particularly difficult second half outside of his eight-yard touchdown pass to Ladd McConkey (chest), as Los Angeles' six other possessions after halftime ended in either a punt, a blocked punt or the aforementioned interception, which came at the Cardinals' 5-yard line. The loss of McConkey to his injury in the third quarter certainly didn't help Herbert's cause, and he and his healthy teammates will look to atone for an alarming upset defeat when they face off with the division rival Raiders in next Sunday's home matchup.

Chargers' Justin Herbert: Stellar in cameo Thursday

Justin Herbert completed two of three passes for 74 yards and a touchdown, rushed once for no gain and lost a fumble in the Los Angeles Chargers' 20-18 preseason loss to the Rams on Thursday.Herbert drew the start and completed a nine-yard pass to Charlie Kolar on the Chargers' first play from scrimmage before losing a fumble on his next snap. However, the star signal-caller atoned on his second and final possession, hitting Quentin Johnston for a 65-yard touchdown pass to close out his brief night. Herbert, who put up five pass attempts across two games this preseason, will begin his quest to eclipse the 3,700-yard mark through the air for the third straight campaign with a Week 1 home matchup against the Cardinals on Sunday, Sept. 13.

Chargers' Justin Herbert: One completion in preseason cameo

Justin Herbert completed one of two passes for nine yards with no touchdowns or interceptions in the Los Angeles Chargers' 41-17 preseason loss to the 49ers on Thursday night. As expected, Herbert and the rest of the Chargers' offensive starters opened Thursday's game. However, Los Angeles traveled only eight yards on three plays before punting, and Herbert's one completion came to offseason addition Charlie Kolar. The talented signal-caller once again enters the new season with elevated expectations following back-to-back 11-6 campaigns, and with a bevy of young pass-catching talent surrounding him, as well as veteran newcomer David Njoku.

Chargers' Justin Herbert: Getting comfortable in new offense

Justin Herbert has been sharp and on target with his receivers in training camp, seemingly growing more comfortable in Mike McDaniel's offense, Kris Rhim of ESPN.com reports. One of the priorities that Herbert took during the offseason was to improve his footwork, which has seemingly paid off through the first two weeks of training camp. Entering his seventh NFL season, Herbert has looked comfortable with his timing in McDaniel's scheme, connecting on receivers early and in space. It's unclear whether Herbert will play in Thursday's exhibition contest against the Texans, but the Oregon product should see some reps in preseason games to flesh out the details before the Los Angeles Chargers' regular-season opener against the Cardinals on Sunday, Sept. 13.
