La'Mical Perine was released by the Steelers on Tuesday, Teresa Varley of the team's official site reports.Perine appeared in five regular-season games for the Chiefs in 2023, and he played exclusively on special teams in Kansas City's first three playoff games. After being waived May 17, he caught on with the Steelers six days later to compete for the No. 3 running back job behind Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren (hamstring). Perine wasn't able to show much during his three preseason outings, during which he accrued 16 carries for 46 yards and one touchdown while adding one catch on three targets for four yards. Given his experience on special teams, Perine should be able to catch on with another team -- either on the roster or practice squad -- at some point during the 2024 season.
