Cam Akers had five carries for 37 yards in Sunday's win over Atlanta.Akers played on 19 of the offense's 60 snaps. Aaron Jones had 15 touches and played on 38 snaps. Jones shook off his recent fumble issues and got the bulk of the workload, but Akers remains a factor to give him rest.

Vikings' Cam Akers: Gets just four touches in win
Cam Akers had four carries for 22 yards in Sunday's win over Arizona.Akers played 16 of the offense's 53 snaps while Ty Chandler played only five snaps. Starting running back Aaron Jones saw 28 snaps but fumbled on twice on eight touches and sat for a long stretch at the end of the first half. Akers could take on a larger workload if Jones can't solve his ball security issues.

Vikings' Cam Akers: Falls back to four touches Sunday
Cam Akers totaled three carries for 19 yards and one catch (on one target) for six yards during Sunday's 30-27 win at Chicago.Akers has been a part of the Minnesota Vikings offense in four consecutive contests, but his touch count Sunday was the fewest during that stretch after earning 14 in Week 10 at Jacksonville and 12 last Sunday in Tennessee. The elevated usage for Akers in the previous two games may have been spurred by the rib injury that Aaron Jones suffered in the first of those outings, but the latter racked up 25 touches for 129 yards from scrimmage and a rushing TD in Week 12, indicating he's more or less back to his status as Minnesota's unquestioned top RB. As a result, Akers could be relegated to a distant No. 2 option behind Jones moving forward.

Vikings' Cam Akers: Another 12 touches in Week 11
Cam Akers tallied 10 carries for 25 yards and two catches (on two targets) for 11 yards and one touchdown during Sunday's 23-13 victory in Tennessee.Akers now has back-to-back games with double-digit touches, but his yardage tallies in those outings have left fantasy managers wanting (14 for 47 yards from scrimmage Week 10 at Jacksonville, 12 for 36 total yards Week 11). On a positive note, he scored his first TD since Week 5, when he was a member of the Texans, from three yards out late in the third quarter. The Minnesota Vikings' lead runner, Aaron Jones, didn't fare much better (16 touches for 43 total yards), which may stem from the rib issue that he sustained against the Jaguars last weekend. In any case, Akers appears as if he's carved out a regular role in Minnesota's offense, at least in the short term.

Vikings' Cam Akers: Gets 13 carries in win
Cam Akers had 13 carries for 38 yards and one reception for nine yards in Sunday's win at Jacksonville.Akers played on 26 of the offense's 84 snaps as he got extra playing time late in the game when Aaron Jones missed time with sore ribs. It sounds like Jones won't miss time with the injury, but he could be limited, or the Minnesota Vikings may want to play it safe with his usage this week at Tennessee. Akers could be set for more work as a result.

Vikings' Cam Akers: Moves into backup RB role
Cam Akers had six carries for 46 yards and two receptions for seven yards in Sunday's win over the Colts.Akers played on 16 of the offense's 73 snaps as he essentially got two series in place of starter Aaron Jones, the latter of whom had 21 carries for 64 yards and four receptions for 18 yards. Ty Chandler didn't play any snaps on offense as it looks like Akers has overtaken him to be the primary backup running back. It appears Akers will be the running back who gets some work each game to try to keep Jones fresh.

Vikings' Cam Akers: Working as No. 3 back
Cam Akers is active for Sunday's game against the Lions after being acquired from the Texans on Tuesday, Andrew Krammer of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.Meanwhile, Myles Gaskin is a healthy inactive for Sunday's game. Akers will work as the No. 3 running back, but he may not see much playing time with lead back Aaron Jones (hamstring) set to play. Ty Chandler will work as Jones' backup.

Vikings' Cam Akers: Traded to Minnesota
The Minnesota Vikings acquired Cam Akers and a 2026 conditional seventh-round pick from the Texans on Tuesday in exchange for a 2026 conditional sixth-round pick, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.Minnesota has now traded for Akers for the second season in a row, as the Vikings previously acquired him from the Rams last September. He made six appearances for the Vikings in 2023 before rupturing his right Achilles' tendon in November and requiring surgery, but Akers recovered quicker than anticipated from the major injury. After joining Houston on a one-year deal in the offseason, he made the Texans' Week 1 roster and suddenly found himself in a lead role out of the backfield by Week 2, when Joe Mixon exited a win over the Bears with an ankle injury. Dameon Pierce also missed time with a hamstring injury to free up snaps for Akers, who carried 31 times for 116 yards and a touchdown and added three receptions for 13 yards and another score between Weeks 3 and 5. However, with both Mixon and Pierce returning to action for the Week 6 win over the Patriots, Akers was limited to just two snaps. With its top two backs healthy and Dare Ogunbowale offering value on special teams and passing downs as a No. 3 option, Houston deemed Akers expendable and opted to move him to Minnesota, where he'll presumably compete with Ty Chandler and Myles Gaskin for a depth role behind lead back Aaron Jones (hip).

Texans' Cam Akers: Loses playing time
Cam Akers had two carries for minus-1 yards in Sunday's 41-21 win over the Patriots. As expected, Akers' role was significantly impacted by the returns of Joe Mixon and Dameon Pierce. Akers was on the field for just two snaps, which came during Houston's final possession. He should considered the fourth running back behind Mixon, Pierce and Dare Ogunbowale, who played 18 snaps Sunday.
