Rams' Joshua Karty: Doesn't practice Wednesday

Joshua Karty (groin) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports. The Los Angeles Rams' rookie kicker, Karty tweaked his groin in last Sunday's loss to the Cardinals. Through two contests, Karty has drilled all three of his field-goal attempts and all three of his extra points. If Karty is unable to kick in Week 3 against the 49ers, the Rams signed Tanner Brown to the practice squad Tuesday as a logical replacement.

Rams' Joshua Karty: Tweaks groin Sunday

Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay said Monday that Joshua Karty tweaked his groin during Sunday's 41-10 loss to the Cardinals, Adam Grosbard of The Orange County Register reports.McVay added that he expects Karty to play Week 3 against the 49ers, but the kicker's practice participation will be something to monitor throughout the week. Karty, a 2024 sixth-round pick from Stanford, has made all three of his field-goal attempts and all three of his extra-point tries through the first two weeks of the season.

Rams' Joshua Karty: Perfect in debut performance

Joshua Karty connected on both of his field-goal attempts and converted both of his extra-point tries during Sunday's 26-20 overtime loss to the Lions.Through one game, the Los Angeles Rams' kicker, a position that was a major point of concern last season, seems to have developed some stability. Karty came through with a 41-yard field goal in the first quarter before drilling a 26-yard attempt in the fourth. The sixth-round rookie from Stanford continued to build on a solid preseason (5-of-6 on field goals) and should continue to have plenty of opportunities to produce against the Cardinals in Week 2.

Rams' Joshua Karty: Misses PAT in preseason finale

Joshua Karty converted a 21-yard field-goal attempt and missed his lone extra-point try during Saturday's 17-15 loss against the Texans. The rookie kicker out of Stanford missed the first PAT of his NFL career when he clanged the kick off the right upright in the second quarter. Karty did manage to improve his record on field goals this preseason to 5-of-6 with a chip-shot field goal to start the scoring for the Los Angeles Rams in the first quarter, and overall he did an admirable job compared to Tanner Brown's 2-of-4 performance in last year's preseason. Karty should have some margin for error early on in the season given the Rams invested draft capital on him, but, head coach Sean McVay isn't afraid to make a switch at the position, including releasing Brett Maher last season after he missed six field goals in his first seven games.

Rams' Joshua Karty: Misses 52-yard FG attempt

Joshua Karty made two of three field goal attempts and converted his only PAT during Saturday's 13-9 victory against the Chargers.Karty's miss from 52 yards shouldn't be too concerning, as the Los Angeles Rams' rookie kicker still managed to boot field goals from 48 and 43 yards, respectively. The Stanford product has officially won the starting kicking job, as Tanner Brown was released by Rams earlier this week. Karty has been solid through two preseason contests, making 4-of-5 field-goal attempts and both of his extra point tries. Karty will get one last chance to get acclimated in a preseason Week 3 showdown with the Texans.

Rams' Joshua Karty: Perfect start to preseason

Joshua Karty connected on both of his field-goal attempts and converted his lone extra-point attempt during Sunday's 13-12 win against the Cowboys. The sixth-round rookie out of Stanford looks likely to win the competition for starting kicker over Tanner Brown, as he nailed field goals from 28 and 39 yards out before hitting a game-winning PAT. After a 2023 season where Lucas Havrisik and Brett Maher missed a total of 11 field-goal attempts between them, the stability that the sure-footed Karty offers (51 of 60 on field goals and 72 of 73 on PATs over three collegiate seasons) will be appreciated by a Los Angeles Rams' fan base that was spoiled with Matt Gay's excellence at the role (74 of 80 on field goals) from 2020 to 2022.
