Brandon Browner: Released by Seahawks
Brandon Browner was released by the Seahawks on Monday, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.Early this month, it was reported that Seattle would use Browner as a defensive specialist who could cover bigger receivers and tight ends. However, it appears this plan wasn't worth holding its own roster spot. Considering it didn't work out in Seattle, it would be a bit of surprise if the struggling Browner finds a new home before the season kicks off.

Seahawks' Brandon Browner: Expected to play strategic role for defense
Brandon Browner is pegged for a role in which he will be assigned specific tight ends or bigger receivers depending on the opponent, the Seattle Times reports. At 32, Browner no longer has the skills to start at cornerback. It showed last year with the Saints when he led the league with 11 defensive holding penalties (nine accepted) and six personal fouls. He also was flagged three times for pass interference. The Seattle Seahawks, though, think they can use him strategically, capitalizing on his size (6-4, 220) against bigger receivers, after they struggled against tight ends last season.

Saints' Brandon Browner: Racks up big stats in historically bad 2015 season
Brandon Browner made 76 tackles (63 solo) and had one interception and 10 pass defenses in 16 games this season.Browner set an NFL record for penalties in 2015, and things got so ugly by the end of the season that he was booed in pregame introductions before the home finale. From a fantasy standpoint, however, Browner was excellent, as his 76 tackles rank this among cornerbacks in the NFL. Browner is likely be back with the New Orleans Saints in 2016 because he is still owed a significant amount of guaranteed money and showed flashes of being an asset when used properly (as he showed against Detroit's Calvin Johnson), but with the emergence of Delvin Breaux and potential return of Keenan Lewis, Browner may be hard-pressed to see the ample playing time that made him an IDP commodity this season.

Saints' Brandon Browner: Eight tackles in pass-happy affair
Brandon Browner had eight tackles (all solo) in Sunday's win against the Giants. That Browner, a cornerback, finished second on the team in tackles tells owners all they need to know about the nature of Sunday's shootout in New Orleans. With Eli Manning throwing the ball all over the field, Browner had plenty of opportunities to make plays. Opposing quarterbacks have not shied away from attacking Browner's side of the field - which is one reason why he among the league leaders in penalties - but his physical play continues to make him a decent IDP option at defensive back.

Saints' Brandon Browner: 26 tackles in last four weeks
Brandon Browner made six tackles (four solo) and recovered a fumble in Thursday's win against the Falcons. As expected, Browner's physical play has led to a number of penalties this season - he leads the league through six weeks - but that's inconsequential to most fantasy owners, as his physicality is also one of the reasons why he has averaged six tackles per game from his cornerback position. Browner may continue to rack up the penalties, but he remains a solid option at defensive back in IDP leagues because of his willingness to mix it up with opposing ball carriers.

Saints CB Brandon Browner impressing teammates, coach
New New Orleans Saints cornerback Brandon Browner is having a positive impact on not just the secondary, but the entire defense. At least that's the view of defensive backfield mate Kenny Vaccaro. "Browner's a good dude, leads by example, talks when he needs to talk," Vaccaro told the New Orleans Times-Picayune. "He's real serious, kind of keeps everybody level headed and knows what we've got to work for. He's won two Super Bowls, so he knows what to do." Sean Payton echoed those sentiments. "He's competitive," he said. "He's driven and certainly one of the things we talked about this offseason through the draft, through the acquisition of players is the makeup and making sure that this is something we felt like was a plus and certainly with him we feel that that is a strength of his." The Saints are Browner's fourth team in six seasons in the NFL.
