A.J. Hawk announced his retirement from professional football Tuesday, ESPN.com reports.Hawk appeared in one game for the Falcons in 2017 before being released in October. The inside linebacker was selected No. 5 overall by the Packers in the 2006 NFL Draft and spent nine of his 11 NFL seasons with Green Bay, winning one Super Bowl and finishing as the team's all-time leading tackler.

A.J. Hawk was released by the Falcons on Tuesday, Curtis Jackson of the Falcons' official site reports.Hawk was signed in Week 5 to provide depth at linebacker, but with the Falcons currently needing help at running back, space needed to be cleared for running backs Terron Ward and Stevan Ridley. Unfortunately for Hawk, he was one of the odd men out, as well as offensive lineman Mike Person. At 32 years old, Hawk's career is clearly on its last leg, but he could still potentially provide help somewhere if injuries arise.

A.J. Hawk was released by the Cincinnati Bengals on Tuesday.Even with Vontaze Burfict (suspension) out for the first four games of the season, Hawk was unlikely to start in Cincinnati after the Bengals re-signed Vincent Rey and added Karlos Dansby. Though his days as a regular starter and useful IDP are likely numbered, the 32-year-old Hawk shouldn't have much trouble finding a team that will allow him to compete for a roster spot. He had just 24 tackles and one sack in 16 games last season.

Bengals, A.J. Hawk agree to two-year deal
The Cincinnati Bengals have agreed to a two-year deal with linebacker A.J. Hawk, per his agent. Hawk was released by the Packers in February with a failed physical designation. The team was interested in bringing him back, and the Vikings were also reported to have interest. Hawk will be playing for his hometown team, as the linebacker was born in nearby Kettering and went to college at Ohio State.

Report: Vikings looking at former Packer LB A.J. Hawk
Former Green Bay Packers linebacker A.J. Hawk is drawing interest from the Minnesota Vikings, according to ESPN.com. Hawk, 31, was taken with the fifth pick of the first-round in the 2006 draft. He was recently released from the Packers after nine years with the team, creating $3.5 million in cap space. His playing time decreased significantly by week 13 of last season. Throughout his career he posted 100 or more total tackles in five seasons. A return to the Packers has not been ruled out completely.

Report: Packers not ruling out bringing A.J. Hawk back
Although the Green Bay Packers recently released linebacker A.J. Hawk, the team is not opposed to bringing him back, a source told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. The Packers released Hawk on Feb. 25, but the team has left open the possibility of his return. Hawk, 31, recently underwent ankle surgery, but intends to play in 2015.

The Green Bay Packers announced they've released veteran linebacker A.J. Hawk. Taken in the first round of the 2006 NFL draft, Hawk has spent his entire career with Green Bay. He's totaled 923 tackles, three forced fumbles and nine interceptions in nine seasons. Hawk was released with a failed physical designation. The move saves the Packers $3.5 million in cap space for the 2015 season. “I spent nine great years in Green Bay," Hawk said in a statement. "I had awesome teammates and coaches and a great medical staff and equipment staff. Many of them have become my closest friends. We won a ton of games, as well as a Super Bowl, and I loved everything about playing for one of the greatest franchises in all of sports,” Hawk said. “The fans in Green Bay are incredible. Between playing at Lambeau Field as well as seeing them on the road, they always supported us. I am looking forward to my next opportunity in the NFL, but I’ll always cherish my years as a Green Bay Packer.”

Packers seek improvement at inside linebacker
The Green Bay Packers seem satisfied with A.J. Hawk but could be looking for an upgrade over fellow inside linebacker Brad Jones, reports ESPN.com. Jones had 83 tackles and three sacks in 12 games last season. He's owed $2.8 million for 2014. Green Bay is expected to address linebacker in the draft.
