Devin Hester: Retires from football
Devin Hester announced Tuesday that he has retired from professional football.Hester walks away from the NFL as arguably the greatest return specialist ever to take the field, as the 35-year-old registered 14 career punt returns for touchdowns and five touchdowns on kick returns. A four-time Pro Bowler, Hester spent the majority of his career with the Bears, most memorably returning the opening kickoff in Super Bowl 41 for a touchdown in Chicago's loss to Indianapolis. Hester finished out his career with brief stops with the Falcons, Ravens and Seahawks.

Seahawks' Devin Hester: Signing with Seahawks
The Seattle Seahawks are reportedly signing Devin Hester for their upcoming playoff run, Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reports.Hester played 12 games with the Ravens this season before being waived on Dec. 13. The veteran returner's future was in question following the release, but he will get another shot at providing a spark for the Seahawks this postseason. With Tyler Lockett injured, the team has opted to look outside of the box for a kick and punt returner by signing Hester. He racked up 466 kickoff return yards and 180 punt return yards for the Ravens this season, but also fumbled the ball five times, losing one.

Devin Hester: Released on Tuesday
Devin Hester was waived by the Ravens on Tuesday.Hester failed to call for a fair catch in the Ravens' first offensive possession of Monday's loss to the Patriots, which ultimately led to a safety after the Patriots downed the ball on the 1-yard line. The mistake seemed to be the final straw for the veteran returner, as the team promoted wide receiver and return specialist Michael Campanaro (calf) on Tuesday. Hester, arguably the best return specialist in NFL history, may have trouble finding another stint, as many will question how much the 34-year-old has left in the tank. In 12 games with the Ravens, the he racked up 466 kickoff return yards and 180 punt return yards while fumbling the ball five times, losing just one.

Ravens' Devin Hester: Not expected to play
Devin Hester (thigh) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against the Giants.Hester was listed as questionable with a thigh injury the past two weeks, ultimately able to play both times. He's probably one bad game away from losing his job, as he's made some poor decisions while fielding punts, and has also fumbled on two of his 18 returns. Considering he's strictly a return specialist -- with no value on offense or other special teams units -- he needs to perform at a high level to justify the use of a roster spot. Replacement options in the return game include S Lardarius Webb, CB Tavon Young, WR Chris Moore and RBs Kenneth Dixon and Terrance West

Ravens' Devin Hester: Does not practice Thursday
Devin Hester (thigh) did not participate in practice Thursday, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports. The return specialist went from limited participation on Wednesday to no participation Thursday, which isn't a reassuring sign that he'll be on the field this Sunday against the Giants. However, the veteran has played through the aliment the past couple of weeks, so his absence from Thursday's practice could simply be the team taking a precautionary measure to assure he'll be ready to go for Week 6. Look for more updates to come as kickoff approaches with Lardarius Webb and Chris Moore likely to share return responsibilities if Hester is ultimately ruled out.
