Giants release Mathias Kiwanuka
The New York Giants released defensive end Mathias Kiwanuka on Tuesday, after nine years with the team. The move will save the Giants $4.825 million--Kiwanuka's 2015 salary--against the cap. Kiwanuka had 2.5 sacks in 11 games last season. He was one of three players remaining from the Giants 2007 Super Bowl team. Long snapper Zak D'Ossie and QB Eli Manning are the other two.

Coughlin: No comment on if Mathias Kiwanuka returns to Giants
New York Giants coach Tom Coughlin spoke with the media at the combine in Indianapolis, but he wasn't willing to commit to defensive end Mathias Kiwanuka Kiwanuka's 2015 salary will be $4.775 million, but he would count $7.45 million against the salary cap. It's been widely speculated that the Giants would release him to save nearly $5 million against the cap. When Coughlin was asked if there was a place for Kiwanuka on the Giants, he declined to comment. Kiwanuka, who will be 32 next season, had a career-low 2.5 sacks in 11 games. His season was cut short by a knee injury. Coughlin said he wasn't sure if Kiwanuka would return or if he'd even be able to play, following the knee surgery. He concluded by saying that a decision on the end hasn't been made yet.

Giants place three players on injured reserve
The New York Giants put defensive ends Robert Ayers (pectoral) and Mathias Kiwanuka (knee) and offensive lineman Adam Snyder (knee) on season-ending injured reserve, reports ESPN.com. Ayers suffered the injury Week 13 at Jacksonville. Kiwanuka sat out that game after recording 28 tackles and 2.5 sacks in the first 11 contests.

Giants rule out DE Mathias Kiwanuka for Sunday game
New York Giants defensive end Mathias Kiwanuka has been downgraded from questionable to out for the Sunday game at Jacksonville, for which he did not travel. Kiwanuka has been plagued with a knee ailment that will cause him to miss his first game this season. He has started all the rest.

The New York Giants have ruled out offensive lineman Adam Snyder (knee), defensive tackle Cullen Jenkins (calf) and linebacker Jacquian Williams (concussion, shoulder) for Sunday's game against the Jaguars. Defensive end Mathias Kiwanuka (knee) and tackle Justin Pugh (quadriceps) were the only two players deemed questionable. Meanwhile, linebacker Jameel McClain (knee), safety Antrel Rolle (rest) and offensive lineman Geoff Schwartz (toe) were designated as probable for Week 13.

Giants list Week 12 inactives vs. Cowboys
The New York Giants have listed the following players as inactive for Sunday night's Week 12 matchup with the Cowboys: linebacker Jacquian Williams (concussion), defensive tackle Cullen Jenkins (calf), cornerback Mike Harris, defensive end Kerry Wynn and offensive linemen Dallas Reynolds, Justin Pugh and Brandon Mosley. Williams and Jenkins had already been ruled out on Friday's final injury report of the week. All three of the team's probables are active Sunday, including defensive end Mathias Kiwanuka (knee), guard Geoff Schwartz (toe) and cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (back, hamstring).
