Aaron Rodgers completed 24 of 40 passes for 221 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions and added three carries for minus-3 yards in the Pittsburgh Steelers' 20-13 win over the Falcons on Sunday.Rodgers commemorated his first non-preseason game under Mike McCarthy since a divisional-round matchup against the 49ers back in January 2020 with some solid numbers in Sunday's low-scoring win. The future Hall of Famer didn't have to be overly aggressive against a Falcons team down to its third-string quarterback in Cooper Rush, but Rodgers spread the ball around to seven different targets and displayed strong chemistry with offseason addition Michael Pittman (3-58-0). The veteran signal-caller hit Pat Freiermuth for his one touchdown pass from six yards out early in the second quarter, and Rodgers managed to remain free of any turnovers on the way to the seven-point win. Rodgers and his teammates get a stiffer test in Week 2, as they travel to New England to face a Patriots team next Sunday that will have a big rest advantage.

Aaron Rodgers is expected to have WRs DK Metcalf (undisclosed) and Michael Pittman (hamstring) available Week 1 against the Falcons on Sunday, Sept. 13, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.Rodgers didn't suit up in the preseason, and coach Mike McCarthy tied his decision to do so to the fact that Metcalf and Pittman weren't healthy enough to play. Even if one or both of Metcalf and Pittman aren't available for the regular-season opener, Rodgers wouldn't be a consideration to be inactive, but it appears the duo will be able to suit up, barring any setbacks in the meantime. Rodgers led a Pittsburgh Steelers offense in 2025 that didn't have much talent at WR aside from Metcalf, but the quarterback still completed 65.7 percent of his passes for 3,322 yards, 24 touchdowns and seven interceptions in 16 regular-season games.

Aaron Rodgers reiterated Tuesday that 2026 will be his final NFL season, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.Rodgers said the exact same thing back in May after re-signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers but again confirmed it when he reported to training camp Tuesday. And then it kind of all came together." Aaron Rodgers said Wednesday that 2026 will be his final NFL season, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.Rodgers signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday -- the first day of OTAs. He made the decision to play another season in late April or early May, after the NFL Draft, and was then in Pittsburgh for a couple of weeks before officially signing his one-year contract. He'll turn 43 late in the 2026 season, and there'd be no guarantee of a starting job in 2027 even if he wanted one. Rodgers also mentioned that he anticipated retiring once Mike Tomlin was gone, only to reconsider when the Steelers hired Mike McCarthy, who was Rodgers' head coach from 2006 to 2018 in Green Bay. The offense could look much different from last year's, with the Steelers adding WRs Michael Pittman and Germie Bernard to give a better three-wide look.
