  • Rodgers completed 24 of 40 passes for 221 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions and added three carries for minus-3 yards in the Steelers' 20-13 win over the Falcons on Sunday. Rodgers commemorated his first non-preseason game under Mike McCarthy since a divisional-round matchup against the 49ers back in January 2020 with some solid numbers in Sunday's low-scoring win. The future Hall of Famer didn't have to be overly aggressive against a Falcons team down to its third-string quarterback in Cooper Rush, but Rodgers spread the ball around to seven different targets and displayed strong chemistry with offseason addition Michael Pittman (3-58-0). The veteran signal-caller hit Pat Freiermuth for his one touchdown pass from six yards out early in the second quarter, and Rodgers managed to remain free of any turnovers on the way to the seven-point win. Rodgers and his teammates get a stiffer test in Week 2, as they travel to New England to face a Patriots team next Sunday that will have a big rest advantage.

  • Steelers' Aaron Rodgers: Sleeper QBs
    By Jamey Eisenberg

Fantasy managers likely only drafted Rodgers as a backup in Superflex and two-quarterback leagues, but this might be a week to consider starting him. The Falcons might not get much pressure on him with Jalon Walker (knee) and James Pearce Jr. (suspension) out, and Rodgers might have an opportunity to start his reunion with coach Mike McCarthy on a high note. I'm not expecting a huge game from Rodgers, but he could finish as a top-15 Fantasy quarterback in Week 1.

  • Rodgers is expected to have WRs DK Metcalf (undisclosed) and Michael Pittman (hamstring) available Week 1 against the Falcons on Sunday, Sept. 13, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports. Rodgers didn't suit up in the preseason, and coach Mike McCarthy tied his decision to do so to the fact that Metcalf and Pittman weren't healthy enough to play. Even if one or both of Metcalf and Pittman aren't available for the regular-season opener, Rodgers wouldn't be a consideration to be inactive, but it appears the duo will be able to suit up, barring any setbacks in the meantime. Rodgers led a Steelers offense in 2025 that didn't have much talent at WR aside from Metcalf, but the quarterback still completed 65.7 percent of his passes for 3,322 yards, 24 touchdowns and seven interceptions in 16 regular-season games.

  • Rodgers isn't in uniform for Thursday's preseason contest at Buffalo, Alan Saunders of SteelersNow.com reports. Rodgers thus won't get any in-game reps with Pittsburgh's top wide receiver duo of DK Metcalf (hamstring) and Michael Pittman (hamstring) ahead of the regular season. Because both Metcalf and Pittman returned to the field Monday, the trio will continue to build a rapport during practices in advance of a Week 1 matchup with the Falcons on Sunday, Sept. 13.

  • Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy said that Rodgers will be rested for Friday's preseason game against the Jets, Chris Adamski of TribLive.com reports. McCarthy relayed that neither of Pittsburgh's veteran quarterbacks will take the field Friday, with the coach noting that he "saw what I need to see" from backup Mason Rudolph during the team's preseason opener versus the Packers last week. Second-year signal-caller Will Howard will draw the start Friday, and rookie third-round pick Drew Allar will receive snaps once Howard exits the game.
