Brandon Flowers: Officially retiring
Brandon Flowers is expected to officially retire on Tuesday, Steve Wyche of the NFL Network reports.Flowers spent six seasons with the Chiefs before playing his last three for the Chargers. He most recently visited with the Cardinals prior to training camp, but has ultimately decided to retire from football. Flowers will finish his career with 487 tackles, three sacks, 21 interceptions, one forced fumble and one touchdown across nine seasons.

Brandon Flowers: Released by Chargers
Brandon Flowers was released by the Chargers on Tuesday, Ricky Henne of the Chargers' official site reports.After a great first season with the Chargers in 2014, during which he recorded three interceptions, Flowers' production declined during the last two years. Injuries have plagued the veteran cornerback, as he has played in just 17 games over the last two seasons combined. Flowers also was due $9 million in 2017, and his release saves the Chargers $7 million of that money, so his departure is a financial move by the team in advance of free agency starting March 9. As long as teams aren't scared away by his medical past, Flowers should find a spot on an NFL roster come September.
