    Mark Sanchez: Retires from football

Mark Sanchez is retiring from the NFL, Andrew Marchand of the NY Post reports.Sanchez struggled in two games with Washington last season, tossing three interceptions and no touchdowns on 35 pass attempts. The 32-year-old quarterback made just three starts over the past four seasons and now will shift his focus to his new job as a college football analyst for ABC/ESPN.

Redskins' Mark Sanchez: Falls flat in 2018

Mark Sanchez completed 19 of 35 passes for 138 yards with no touchdowns and three interceptions in two games for the Washington Redskins during the 2018 season.Sanchez was handed a four-game ban for performance-enhancing drugs during the offseason and didn't sign with a team until the Redskins lost Alex Smith to a broken fibula in mid-November. The 32-year-old was pressed into action when Colt McCoy (leg) joined Smith on the injured list, but it didn't take long for the team to turn to Josh Johnson instead. Given his putrid performance, Sanchez may have a tough time finding backup work for 2019.

Redskins' Mark Sanchez: Won't start Week 15

Mark Sanchez won't be the Washington Redskins' starting quarterback Week 15 in Jacksonville, Tarik El-Bashir of The Athletic reports.During Sunday's 40-16 loss, the Redskins offense was putrid under the direction of Sanchez, compiling just 19 yards on 10 drives. With 5:31 remaining in the third quarter, he was pulled in favor of Josh Johnson, and the team rallied for all of its points on the day. Sanchez finished just six of 14 for 38 yards and two interceptions while getting sacked five times. After the game, coach Jay Gruden called Johnson the starting QB for Week 15, which could stand for the rest of the season.

Redskins' Mark Sanchez: Forced into first-team duty

Mark Sanchez replaced the injured Colt McCoy (lower leg) during the second quarter and completed 13 of 21 passes for 100 yards and an interception while finishing Monday night's 28-13 loss to the Eagles.Sanchez was forced into the action after McCoy went down early and was unable to return. Considering Sanchez only joined the Washington Redskins two weeks ago, hadn't thrown a pass in an NFL game in two years, and found himself in predictable passing situations during the second half, it's not surprising he struggled to make much of an impact. However, with McCoy being diagnosed with a season-ending fractured right fibula -- which comes after original starter Alex Smith broke his leg as well -- Sanchez suddenly finds himself as Washington's top option under center. The team will surely add another quarterback ahead of Week 14's game against the Giants, but it appears Sanchez should start that contest, boosting his fantasy value in the process. Given his lack of familiarity with team's scheme, though, it would be wise to really temper expectations of the veteran.

Redskins' Mark Sanchez: Signing with Washington

Mark Sanchez signed a contract with the Washington Redskins on Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. In the wake of Alex Smith's season-ending leg injury, Washington brought in a number of quarterbacks for a workout Monday and evidently settled on Sanchez as the new No. 2 quarterback behind Colt McCoy. The Redskins likely hope he won't see the field.

Mark Sanchez: Scheduled for workout with Redskins

Mark Sanchez is one of five quarterbacks scheduled to visit with the Redskins on Monday, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.Kellen Clemens, Josh Johnson, T.J. Yates and EJ Manuel will also take part in the workout as the Redskins look for a quarterback to join Colt McCoy in the wake of Alex Smith's season-ending leg injury. Now 32 years old, Sanchez hasn't played in a game since 2016 and hasn't made a start since 2015. He failed to catch on with a team for 2018 after receiving a four-game PED suspension during the offseason. With the suspension now out of the way, Sanchez will get his chance to earn a backup job in Washington.

    Mark Sanchez: Receives four-game ban

The NFL handed Mark Sanchez a four-game suspension for a violation of the policy on performance-enhancing substances, James Palmer of NFL Network reports.Sanchez hasn't been called upon to perform since two appearances for the Cowboys in 2016 and hasn't been a regular starter since the second half of the 2014 season with the Eagles. Having said that, he still served as the Bears' third-string QB last year, so he holds a certain sway among NFL front offices. While he'll miss the first quarter of the upcoming campaign, it won't surprise if he latches onto a roster somewhere in the coming months.

Bears' Mark Sanchez: Set to hit free agency

Mark Sanchez didn't take a snap with the Chicago Bears in 2017 and will enter free agency this offseason.Sanchez has been in the league seven years, but he's attempted just 109 passes over the last three campaigns as a backup. He'll likely latch on as a second-stringer somewhere and is unlikely to be a fantasy option unless he finds his way into the starting lineup.

Bears' Mark Sanchez: Not present on injury report

Mark Sanchez (illness) wasn't present on the Chicago Bears' injury report Wednesday.Sanchez sat out Sunday's loss to the Eagles, but that also may have been a coach's decision rather than as a result of the illness. The 31-year-old has served as Chicago's No. 3 quarterback this season, and that's unlikely to change barring an injury to Mitchell Trubisky or Mike Glennon.

    Bears' Mark Sanchez: Inactive Sunday

Mark Sanchez (illness) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Eagles, Dan Wiederer of the Chicago Tribune reports. It's likely that Sanchez, who missed Friday's practice with the illness, is inactive in a coach's decision, as he's been stuck in the No. 3 quarterback role all season. Mike Glennon will serve as the backup to starter Mitchell Trubisky on Sunday.
