  • Lucas Havrisik: Lands with Browns practice squad

Havrisik is set to join the Browns' practice squad.

Days after getting cut by the Colts, Havrisik has found a new home in Cleveland. He will now continue to kick for them at practice and await the opportunity to get called up should anything happen to Dustin Hopkins on the active roster. The 23-year-old kicker spent just one week of his rookie campaign on Indianapolis' practice squad.

  • Jake Moody K | WAS

49ers' Jake Moody: Could be ready for Week 1

San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan said Wednesday that he expects Moody (quadriceps) will be healthy soon, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.

Moody is at least healthier than fellow 49ers kicker Zane Gonzalez, who was placed on injured reserve Tuesday with a calf injury. Gonzalez will now miss the entire season or else reach an injury settlement with San Francisco, whereas Moody still has hope to suit up Week 1 and handle the placekicking duties. Shanahan acknowledged that the 49ers plan to add a kicker to the practice squad, giving them a backup plan in case Moody's quad injury lingers heading into the Sept. 10 season opener at Pittsburgh. If healthy, Moody won't make for the most inspiring fantasy option in Week 1 with the 49ers facing a tough defense in a difficult stadium for kicking. However, Moody's favorable team context could eventually allow for Year 1 fantasy value even if he misses some kicks along the way.

  • Cade York K | NYJ

Cade York: Joins Tennessee's practice squad

York is signing with the Titans' practice squad Thursday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

York was waived by the Browns on Tuesday after the team acquired Dustin Hopkins from the Chargers. The Titans also made a trade for a kicker by acquiring Nick Folk from the Patriots, but York will also be part of the organization on the practice squad.

  • Brett Maher K | LAR

    Rams' Brett Maher: Joining Rams

Maher is set to finalize a contract with the Rams on Wednesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

The Rams didn't have a kicker on their roster after cutting Tanner Brown on Tuesday. Maher had attended training camp with the Broncos, but he ended up losing out on kicker duties in Denver after the team acquired Wil Lutz in a trade. The strong-legged but occasionally inaccurate Maher now looks like the favorite to handle kicking duties for the Rams in Week 1, barring the team bringing aboard additional competition.

  • 49ers' Zane Gonzalez: Placed on injured reserve

The 49ers placed Gonzalez (calf) on injured reserve Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Gonzalez sustained a calf injury ahead of Friday's preseason game against the Chargers, and coach Kyle Shanahan recently said the kicker would be sidelined for a few weeks. However, unless Gonzalez is waived with an injury settlement at some point, he'll be forced to miss the 2023 season.

  • John Parker Romo: Waived by Detroit

The Lions waived Romo on Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

Romo signed with the Saints as an undrafted free agent last year but was let go ahead of roster cutdowns. He impressed during a stint with the XFL's San Antonio Brahmas and earned a chance with Detroit this summer but ultimately lost the competition to Riley Patterson. Romo may be a practice-squad candidate if he clears waivers.

  • Tanner Brown K | ATL

    Tanner Brown: Cut by LAR

The Rams waived Brown on Tuesday.

An undrafted rookie out of Oklahoma State, Brown went 2-for-4 on field-goal attempts during the preseason. The Rams will likely opt to sign a veteran in free agency, but Brown could be brought back on a practice-squad deal if he clears waivers.

  • James McCourt: Cut by Jacksonville

The Jaguars waived McCourt on Tuesday, John Oehser of the Jaguars' official site reports.

McCourt signed a future/reserve deal with Jacksonville in January but couldn't beat out veteran Brandon McManus. The undrafted kicker out of Illinois spent his rookie season on the Jaguars' practice squad and could be looking at a similar role in Year 2.

  • Chad Ryland K | ARI

Patriots' Chad Ryland: Lands New England's kicking job

With Nick Folk having been traded to the Titans on Tuesday, Ryland is slated to open the season as the Patriots' kicker, Andrew Callahan of the Boston Herald reports.

The Patriots took Ryland in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, so it would have been surprising if he didn't land the job. While Folk was a steady and consistent veteran option during his stint with the franchise, Ryland has a bigger kicking leg, which should prove to be an asset both on long-range attempts and on kickoffs.

  • Nick Folk K | ATL

Titans' Nick Folk: Traded to Tennessee

The Titans will send a 2025 seventh-round draft pick to the Patriots in exchange for Folk, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

With New England, Folk had been competing for a job with 2023 fourth-round pick Chad Ryland. Now that he's with the Titans, Folk is slated to fill a kicking void created by the recent release of Michael Badgley. During the 2022 season, the 38-year-old Folk made 32 of his 37 field-goal attempts, while hitting 32 of his 35 extra-point tries in 17 games.
