He ends the exhibition season on a high note and is locked in as Green Bay's kicker for its Week 1 matchup against the Bears.

San Francisco coach Kyle Shanahan said Saturday that Moody is considered week-to-week with a right quad strain, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.

Moody sat out Friday's 23-12 preseason loss to the Chargers after he popped up with this injury. While he was initially considered day-to-day, the outlook for the 23-year-old appears to have taken a hit following the completion of San Francisco's preseason schedule. The 49ers selected Moody with the 99th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, and he struggled during his preseason debut against Las Vegas, going 0-for-2 on field-goal attempts while hitting his lone PAT. Nevertheless, the rookie should still slot in as the team's starting kicker when healthy.

Coach Kyle Shanahan said Saturday that Gonzalez will be sidelined for a few weeks due to a calf injury, Josh Dubow of The Associated Press reports.

Gonzalez presumably injured his calf in pregame warmups ahead of Friday's exhibition against the Chargers, which left the 49ers without an available placekicker due to rookie Jake Moody's (quadriceps) own health concern. Moody is considered day-to-day versus Gonzalez's week-to-week prognosis, so the former seemingly has a leg up to be San Francisco's kicker Week 1at Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh waived Potter on Saturday, Mike DeFabo of The Athletic reports.

Potter signed with the Steelers in April as an undrafted free agent out of Clemson. He appeared in two of the team's three preseason contests, converting two of his three field-goal attempts and all three of his extra-point tries. However, his performance was not enough to unseat longtime starting kicker Chris Boswell. Potter will now look to either join up with Pittsburgh's practice squad or latch on elsewhere heading into the 2023 regular season.

Wright was waived by the Panthers on Saturday, Darin Gantt of the team's official website reports.

Wright was brought in by Carolina early in training camp to fill in for Eddy Pineiro (groin) while he was sidelined. It was made clear that Pineiro's job was not on the line, so Wright was simply there as a filler. He will now use his time there as a reference for other teams as he begins to seek out new employment opportunities.

Ryland connected on an extra-point try in Friday's 23-7 preseason loss to the Titans.

As Tuesday's roster cut-downs approach, Ryland and veteran Nick Folk are still in the Patriots' kicker mix and remain in what coach Bill Belichick noted Friday was a "pretty tight competition," Mark Daniels of masslive.com reports. Given that the Patriots selected Ryland in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, it would be surprising to see him let go, but with both kickers having had "really good camps," per Belichick, the team has a tough decision to make at the position, with Daniels suggesting that both players making the initial cut is a possible outcome.

Gonzalez will not return to Friday's preseason finale against the Chargers due to a calf injury, Lindsey Pallares of the 49ers' official site reports.

Gonzalez has been filling in for rookie kicker Jake Moody (quadriceps). Now that both kickers are unavailable Friday, punter Mitch Wishnowsky will presumably handle kicking duties. The severity of Gonzalez's injury is unknown at this time.

Boswell converted his lone field-goal attempt while making all three of his extra-point tries during Thursday's 24-0 preseason win over Atlanta.

Boswell didn't appear in the Steelers' preseason opener but has been effective since then, making all nine of his kicks over the last two games. B.T. Potter missed his lone kick -- a 43-yard field-goal attempt -- in the fourth quarter Thursday, so Boswell appears to be the favorite to open the regular season as the Steelers' placekicker.
