  • Cade York K | NYJ

Browns' Cade York: Misses twice Thursday

York was successful on three of four field-goal attempts in Thursday's 18-18 preseason game against the Eagles.

York, who had missed attempts in each of the first two preseason games, made all three tries during the first half Thursday. But all anyone will remember are the misses near the end of the game that could have sealed a win for the Browns. He went wide right on a 47-yarder -- the third time he went wide right during preseason action -- but a Philadelphia penalty gave him another chance, five yards closer. That one he hooked to the left. Cleveland head coach Kevin Stefanski stood by the young kicker, telling Zac Jackson of The Athletic that he's not interested in adding another to kicker to compete with York. Nevertheless, the misses are alarming.

  • Jack Podlesny: Gets cut loose

Podlesny was waived by the Vikings on Thursday.

Podlesny joined the team as an undrafted free agent out of Georgia in the spring. His exit will leave Greg Joseph, who has handled kicking duties for Minnesota each of the last two seasons, as the only kicker on the roster. Podlesney will now work to find another opportunity.

  • Brett Maher K | LAR

Broncos' Brett Maher: Only kicker left in Denver

Maher is currently the only kicker on the Broncos roster after Denver waived Elliott Fry (undisclosed) with an injury designation on Tuesday, Troy Renck of Denver 7 News reports.

According to Renck, Maher, who missed both of his field-goal attempts in this past Friday's preseason opener against the Cardinals, converted seven of nine field-goal tries in Tuesday's practice, including a 59-yarder at the end of a two-minute drill. For now, Maher is Denver's lone kicker, but it's possible that the team brings in some competition. Head coach Sean Payton noted Tuesday "we will go day-to-day with where we are at with the kickers," while adding that Maher is "competing against 31 other teams" for Denver's kicking job. With that in mind, the Broncos will likely see how Maher performs over the rest of the preseason while also monitoring other teams' kicking battles before settling on an option for Week 1.

  • Cairo Santos K | CHI

Bears' Cairo Santos: Won camp battle

Santos is the Bears' starting kicker, as there is no kicker on the roster for him to compete with, Adam Jahns of The Athletic reports.

Santos has been extremely accurate in his three years with the Bears and he was more than 90 percent accurate on his field-goal attempts in 2022. The reason he wasn't much of a fantasy factor was because the offense often didn't score enough points. If the offense can make a leap this season, his accuracy may intersect with volume. If that happens, he could be a sneaky option in 12-team leagues.

  • Jets' Greg Zuerlein: Stays perfect in preseason

Zuerlein made both of his field-goal attempts and all three PAT tries in Saturday's 27-0 preseason win over the Panthers.

The Jets still have two preseason games left, but Zuerlein's ready for the regular season to start. After connecting from 47 and 45 yards out in this one, the veteran kicker has made all five of his field-goal attempts this preseason, with each kick coming from at least 44 yards away.

  • Texans' Ka'imi Fairbairn: No more competition

After the Texans waived kicker Jake Bates, Fairbairn has no competition for the job.

The decision to bring Bates into the mix looks like it was done to give Fairbairn some rest early in camp and for some good PR, as Bates is a local product from the Houston suburbs (Tomball). Fairbairn, who did not play in lat week's preseason opener against the Patriots, is expected to be the lone kicker Saturday against the Dolphins.

  • Tanner Brown K | ATL

Rams' Tanner Brown: Misses 46-yard attempt in loss

Brown connected on one of two field-goal attempts and converted both of his extra-point attempts during the Rams' 34-17 preseason loss to the Chargers on Saturday.

A 46-yard field-goal attempt by Brown in the third quarter sailed wide left, while the rookie kicker nailed two PATs and a 39-yard field goal. The Rams haven't signed anyone to compete with Brown for the starting role after Christopher Dunn was waived, but with Brown's longest field goal in college clocking in at a mere 52 yards, any more struggles with accuracy on intermediate kicks could force the Rams to look for veteran help to challenge the rookie.

  • Jake Moody K | WAS

49ers' Jake Moody: Gets off on wrong foot

Moody missed both of his field-goal attempts (1-for-1 on PATs) in his preseason debut against the Raiders on Sunday.

Moody shanked his first attempt left from 40 yards out following one of the few lengthy drives by the offense Sunday. He squared up his next kick, but it was a 58-yard desperation attempt. This is a concerning start for a kicker the 49ers drafted in the third round in order to avoid re-signing one of the most accurate kickers in NFL history, Robbie Gould. That is no fault of Moody, who will look to right the ship against Denver on Saturday.

  • Steelers' Chris Boswell: Doesn't play in preseason opener

Boswell didn't play in Friday's 27-17 preseason win over the Buccaneers.

The Steelers signed B.T. Potter as an undrafted free agent during the offseason to compete with Boswell for the starting placekicker job, and the former got the first chance to contribute during the preseason. Potter converted both of his field-goal attempts while making all three of his extra-point tries in the win, but it wouldn't be surprising to see Boswell get a chance to kick as the preseason progresses.

  • Cowboys' Brandon Aubrey: Misses extra point against Jags

Aubrey connected on his only field-goal attempt and converted two of three extra-point attempts in Saturday's preseason loss to the Jaguars.

The former USFL player is the only kicker currently in camp for the Cowboys, but Aubrey didn't build up any job security with his missed PAT in his first preseason action with the team. It still remains likely that Dallas will bring in competition for the 28-year-old before Week 1.
