  • Jake Elliott K | PHI

Bengals' Jake Elliott: Both kickers perfect Saturday

Both Elliott and Randy Bullock were 2-for-2 on field goal attempts in Saturday's preseason loss to the Chiefs.

So far, there's been little to separate the two Bengals' kickers in this job battle, aside from one rough day in practice for Elliott. The team hasn't tipped its hand regarding their preference.

  • Texans' Ka'imi Fairbairn: Converts two FG Saturday

Fairbairn successfully converted both of his field-goal attempts in Saturday's preseason game against New England.

Fairbairn booted kicks from 31 and 35 yards, making him 3-for-3 over the first two preseason games. It appears that Nick Novak's hold on the starting job is safe, but the Texans will perform their due diligence with Fairbairn, who missed last season with a quadriceps injury. The Texans thought enough of him to sign him as an undrafted free agent in 2016, at a time when Novak's hold on the job was less secure.

  • Cairo Santos K | CHI

Chiefs' Cairo Santos: Remains out Saturday

Santos (groin) isn't expected to play in Saturday's preseason game against the Bengals, BJ Kissel of the Chiefs' official site reports.

Santos hasn't practiced in a couple weeks due to some sort of groin injury. Former Penn State kicker Sam Ficken will likely take on all of the place-kicking responsibilities Saturday.

  • Nick Folk K | NYJ

Buccaneers' Nick Folk: Misses two kicks Thursday

Folk made field goals of 35 and 29 yards but had a 47-yard attempt blocked and also missed an extra-point attempt in Thursday's 12-8 preseason win over the Jaguars.

The veteran kicker still has the confidence of the Bucs, but considering Roberto Aguayo was just released after having missed two kicks in the preseason opener, the misfires have to at least raise some eyebrows. The main difference, of course, is Folk's established track record with multiple teams, something that the recently waived second-year man didn't have on his side. Therefore, Folk is likely to get a longer leash, but all eyes will likely be on him a week from Saturday when the Bucs tangle with the Browns.

  • Jason Myers K | SEA

Jaguars' Jason Myers: Struggles lead to kicker tryouts

Myers missed a 40-yard field goal and an extra-point attempt during Thursday's preseason matchup with the Buccaneers.

Myers has now missed three field-goal attempts and an extra-point in two preseason games. That's cause for concern in Jacksonville and the Jaguars' brass quickly addressed that by trying out multiple free-agent kickers Friday. Myers could be headed toward competition to keep his job unless he turns things around in the near future.

  • Jake Elliott K | PHI

Bengals' Jake Elliott: Rough kicking day Wednesday

Elliott missed three of four kicks in Wednesday's practice, while veteran Randy Bullock made all four of his attempts, Geoff Hobson from Bengals.com reports.

Prior to this week the two kickers both were kicking well, and neither missed a kick in the Bengals' first preseason game. The presumption is that Elliott was the favorite heading into camp, given that the team spent a fifth-round pick to make him the first kicker selected in the draft. This might be a job battle that goes down to the wire.

  • Cairo Santos K | CHI

Chiefs' Cairo Santos: Still sidelined at practice

Santos (groin) did not participate in Tuesday's practice session, Blair Kerkhoff of The Kansas City Star reports.

Santos continues to deal with a nagging groin issue but there's no indication to this point that he will miss any regular-season action because of it. When healthy, he should resume his role as the team's placekicker.

  • Texans' Ka'imi Fairbairn: Gets opportunity in opener

Fairbairn (quad) kicked the Texans' lone field goal attempt in their preseason opener, Deepi Sidhu of the Texans' official website reports.

Fairbairn, who spent 2016 on the team's injured reserve, nailed the 25-yard attempt. It is unclear why he got the opportunity over Nick Novak, but the latter still figures to be the favorite to win the role.

  • Vikings' Marshall Koehn: Kicking competition remains close

The competition between Koehn and Kai Forbath for Minnesota's kicking job remains close, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. Koehn converted an extra point, but did not attempt a field goal in Minnesota's first preseason game.

Koehn is seen having more leg strength than Forbath, which gives him the edge on kickoffs. However, it's hard to see the Vikings giving the job to Koehn, who hasn't kicked in regular-season NFL game, over a veteran. Plus, Forbath made all 15 field-goal attempts last season. Still, it sounds like this job battle may not be decided until late in training camp.

  • Browns' Zane Gonzalez: Perfect in Tuesday's practice

Gonzalez made all five of his field-goal attempts during Tuesday's practice, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.

Gonzalez was drafted in the seventh round of the 2017 NFL Draft in order to compete with incumbent Cody Parkey, but while the rookie had a stronger day than his competitor on Tuesday, Parkey still has the upper hand. The next few preseason games should paint a clearer picture as to whom will win the job.
