Titans' Marcus Mariota: Questionable to return

Mariota is questionable to return to Saturday's contest with a stinger, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.

There was some chatter that Mariota might be able to return following an injury late in the second quarter, but the quarterback has missed the first two possessions of the second half and is currently still undergoing tests in the locker room. Mariota previously missed time in Week 11 with a stinger and was unable to return to the game. Blaine Gabbert has been fielding snaps under center in his stead.

Titans' Marcus Mariota: Leaves game with injury

Mariota left Saturday's game late in the second quarter and was taken to the locker room with an unidentified injury, Turron Davenport of ESPN.com reports.

Late in the second quarter, Mariota was sacked by the Redskins' Jonathan Allen and appeared to come up groggy. While it's unclear exactly what Mariota might have hurt, he did land on his elbow and immediately walked off to the locker room. More information regarding the injury and the quarterback's status for the rest of the contest should be available prior to the start of the second half.

  • Ryan Tannehill QB | TEN

Dolphins' Ryan Tannehill: Good to go for Week 16

Tannehill (shoulder/ankle) doesn't have a designation on the Dolphins' final injury report for Sunday's game against the Jaguars.

Limited at practice throughout the week, Tannehill may not be at his best in terms of arm strength and mobility, but there's no question he'll get the start in a must-win game for Miami. The Week 16 matchup favors a run-heavy approach, as the Jaguars rank fourth in yards allowed per pass attempt (6.7) and 14th in yards allowed per carry (4.4). The Dolphins offense can probably afford to play it safe with Cody Kessler taking snaps on the other side.

  • Lions' Matthew Stafford: Questionable for Week 16

The Lions are listing Stafford (back) as questionable for Sunday's game against the Vikings.

Stafford's practice participation was limited throughout the week while he manages the back issue, which has been plaguing him for much of the past month. Even with the postseason out of reach for the Lions, it's not expected that Stafford is at major risk of sitting out this weekend, given his lengthy track record of playing through pain. Still, he won't make for an alluring fantasy option due to the poor collection of talent surrounding him. Star running back Kerryon Johnson (knee) joined starting wideout Marvin Jones (knee) on injured reserve this week, while top receiver Kenny Golladay (chest) is also listed as questionable for Week 16.

  • Matt Barkley QB | JAC

    Bills' Matt Barkley: Inks extension

Barkley signed a two-year contract extension with the Bills on Friday.

Barkley joined Buffalo in late October when Josh Allen (elbow) and Derek Anderson (concussion) were both injured and made one start to bring an end to the Nathan Peterman experiment. The 28-year-old completed 15 of 25 passes for 232 yards and two touchdowns in that outing and has since overtaken Anderson and the since-released Peterman as the team's No. 2 quarterback. Health permitting, Allen will serve as the Bills' top signal-caller for the foreseeable future, leaving Barkley as his primary understudy through 2020.

  • Lions' Matthew Stafford: Remains limited at practice

Stafford (back) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.

Stafford's reps were also restricted Wednesday, but coach Matt Patricia hasn't suggested that any shutdown plan is in the works for the star quarterback, who hasn't missed a start since 2010. Even if he advances to full participation in practice Friday to clear up concern about his back injury, Stafford should be viewed as a low-end fantasy option after posting a 5:5 TD:INT over his past seven games while failing to eclipse 300 passing yards in any of those outings.

  • Josh Johnson QB | CIN

Redskins' Josh Johnson: Picking up another start

Johnson will remain the Redskins' starting quarterback for Saturday's game against the Titans, Tarik El-Bashir of The Athletic reports.

With Colt McCoy (lower leg) still not practicing and having been ruled out for Week 16, Johnson will draw a second straight start. It marks the first time since 2009 that the journeyman signal-caller will have started consecutive games. Over his two appearances this season, Johnson has elevated the limited talent around him, completing 65.9 percent of his throws for a respectable 8.4 yards per attempt while chipping in 94 more yards on 16 carries. If Johnson can guide the Redskins to another win Saturday to keep their playoff hopes alive, coach Jay Gruden would likely have a tough time justifying handing the job back to McCoy in Week 17 against the Eagles if he's available.

  • Colt McCoy QB | ARI

Redskins' Colt McCoy: Sitting out Week 16

McCoy (lower leg) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Titans, Kareem Copeland of The Washington Post reports.

McCoy still isn't practicing after undergoing surgery earlier this month to repair a fractured fibula and will be sidelined for a third straight game, but the veteran quarterback still isn't ruling himself out for 2018. Per Les Carpenter of The Washington Post, McCoy has been running under the supervision of trainers and is targeting the regular-season finale against the Eagles for a return. Josh Johnson will log another start in McCoy's stead in Week 16 as the Redskins look to keep their playoff hopes alive.

  • Kyle Allen QB | BUF

Panthers' Kyle Allen: Promoted from practice squad

The Panthers signed Allen from their practice squad Thursday, Jelani Scott of the team's official site reports.

Allen's spot on the 53-man roster comes following the placement of Shaq Thompson (shoulder) on injured reserve. With Cam Newton (shoulder) expected to be shut down for the season, Allen will slot in as the Panthers' No. 2 quarterback behind Taylor Heinicke.

  • Ryan Tannehill QB | TEN

Dolphins' Ryan Tannehill: Still banged up

Tannehill (ankle/shoulder) was a limited participant at Wednesday's practice.

Tannehill picked up the ankle injury during a Week 14 win over the Patriots and then took nine sacks in Sunday's 41-17 loss to the Vikings. He should be fine to face Jacksonville this weekend, though he may not be at his best in terms of mobility or arm strength. Given the weak opponent, Miami likely will try to lean on its rushing attack, which now features Kalen Ballage in tandem with Kenyan Drake in the absence of Frank Gore (foot).
