  • Aaron Rodgers QB | PIT

Jets' Aaron Rodgers: Preseason action unlikely

Coach Robert Saleh indicated Tuesday that he doesn't think Rodgers will play during the preseason, Al Iannazzone of Newsday reports.

Rodgers won't see action in either of the Jets' first two preseason contests, while Rich Cimini of ESPN.com relays that the coach's instinct at this time is to not play the veteran QB in the team's Aug. 24 preseason finale against the Giants either. Given the fact that Rodgers is returning from an Achilles injury, it's not surprising that caution is being exercised. The 40-year-old is still on track to helm New York's offense in Week 1 against the 49ers.

  • Raiders' Aidan O'Connell: Splitting reps with Minshew

O'Connell and Gardner Minshew have been trading off first-team reps in training camp, Levi Edwards of the Raiders' official site and Tashan Reed of The Athletic report.

The fact that the two QBs have essentially been alternating first-team snaps on a practice-by-practice basis as the coaching staff gives both players a long look, though the starting experience O'Connell gained under Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce last season may give him a slight edge out of the gate. That said, if neither signal-caller pulls away during training camp and the preseason, it could be a while until a decision on the team's Week 1 starter is publicly revealed.

  • C.J. Stroud QB | HOU

Texans' C.J. Stroud: Full practice Monday

Stroud was a full participant in practice Monday after having Sunday off, Aaron Wilson of KPRC2 Houston reports.

Stroud had his foot stepped on by Folorunso Fatukasi during Saturday's practice but was able to finish out the session at normal speed. Sunday's day off can be viewed as a precaution. It's unlikely that Stroud will play in Thursday's Hall of Fame Game against the Bears, as head coach DeMeco Ryans plans not to play several key starters.

  • Raiders' Gardner Minshew: Rotating with O'Connell

Minshew and Aidan O'Connell have rotated first-team reps through the first week of training camp, Tashan Reed of The Athletic reports.

There haven't been many hints about the favorite to start Week 1, with Las Vegas beat reporters mostly noting that the defense is getting the better of the offense regardless of which QB is taking snaps. O'Connell was first through the rotation at the start of the offseason program and again on the opening day of training camp, but it sounds like the split has been around 50/50 overall. Raiders offensive coordinator Luke Getsy didn't provide any hints when he talked to reporters Monday, merely saying that he's been pleased with both quarterbacks so far, per Levi Edwards of the Raiders' official site.

  • Russell Wilson QB | NYG

Steelers' Russell Wilson: Progressing toward team drills

Coach Mike Tomlin noted that Wilson (calf), who was limited at Sunday's practice, is expected to work into some team drills next week, Mike DeFabo of The Athletic reports.

Per DeFabo, Wilson is bouncing back from a calf injury that he sustained while pushing a sled during the Steelers' conditioning test, but the veteran QB was able participate in individual drills Sunday. In Wilson's absence, Justin Fields has handled first-team work, but once Wilson is able to practice fully, he'll look to solidify his presumed place atop the team's depth chart.

  • Russell Wilson QB | NYG

Steelers' Russell Wilson: Limited work in individual drills

Wilson (calf) was sidelined during team sesssions for the fourth straight practice but was a limited participant during individual drills Sunday, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.

Wilson did not participate during the Steelers' walkthrough Sunday morning and was expected to be a non-participant once again. However, he was active during some agility and throwing sessions later on in practice, which was more work than he's done during previous training camp practices. The 35-year-old still wasn't fully suited up, as he wore a ball cap rather than a helmet, and he did not appear to be going full speed, per Pryor. Wilson is the presumed starter over Justin Fields at this point, but the latter will likely need some live reps this training camp in order to separate himself in this competition ahead of the first preseason game Friday, Aug. 9. The Steelers are scheduled to have a day off before returning for the team's first padded practice Tuesday, according to Pryor. While the coaching staff will likely be overly cautious with him, Wilson's activity level Tuesday will be a good indicator of where he's at.

  • Nathan Rourke QB | ATL

    Nathan Rourke: Cut by Giants

The Giants waived Rourke on Sunday, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports.

Rourke was the odd-man out of the backup quarterback competition between Drew Lock and Tommy DeVito. Should he clear waivers, Rourke will be in the market for a team looking to add an emergency quarterback to its practice squad.

  • C.J. Stroud QB | HOU

Texans' C.J. Stroud: Has scare at practice

Stroud was limping during Saturday's practice after having his foot stepped on by defensive tackle Folorunso Fatukasi, Aaron Wilson of KPRC2 Houston reports.

Stroud limped slightly for a few plays following the incident with the 6-foot-4, 318-pound lineman. However, Stroud never left the field and eventually regained full mobility. Houston head coach DeMeco Ryans said there was "no concern" at all about the quarterback following practice.

  • Gavin Hardison QB | MIA

    Gavin Hardison: Cut by Dolphins

    Miami waived Hardison on Saturday.

Hardison signed with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent in April, but his time with the club was short-lived. The quarterback out of UTEP will now be free to look for work with a new organization.

  • Lamar Jackson QB | BAL

Ravens' Lamar Jackson: Back at practice

Jackson (illness) returned to practice Saturday, Brian Wacker of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Jackson returned after missing four of the first five due to a prolonged illness. The two-time MVP signal caller is now poised to take the first-team reps for an offense that could be electric with the continual growth of young receivers Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman.
