  • Matt Breida RB | SF

Dolphins' Matt Breida: Operates as third RB in opener

Breida rushed five times for 22 yards and wasn't targeted in the passing game in Sunday's 21-11 loss to the Patriots.

Breida was supposed to be the shifty complement to Jordan Howard's power game. Howard held up his end of the bargain with a one-yard touchdown run, but Breida was overshadowed by Myles Gaskin, who tied for the team lead with four catches while also leading the Dolphins in carries (nine) and rushing yards (40). If Breida remains the third option in Miami's backfield against the Bills in Week 2, he'll be tough to trust in the fantasy realm moving forward.

  • Panthers' Christian McCaffrey: Strong start to season

McCaffrey rushed 23 times for 96 yards and two touchdowns in Week against the Raiders. He also added three receptions for 38 yards.

McCaffrey didn't deliver any spectacular runs, as his longest rush of the day went for 15 yards. Nevertheless, he was a big part of the offense and found the end zone twice -- one from six yards and the other three. He's always an elite option, and that won't change when the Panthers take on the Buccaneers in Week 2.

  • Aaron Jones RB | MIN

Packers' Aaron Jones: Gets in end zone Week 1

Jones rushed 16 times for 66 yards and a touchdown and brought in four of six targets for 10 yards in the Packers' 43-34 win over the Vikings on Sunday. He also fumbled once, but it was recovered by the offense.

Jones took a back seat to Aaron Rodgers, who was spectacular with four touchdown passes in the high-scoring battle. However, the talented running back still rewarded fantasy managers via a five-yard touchdown run with 3:19 remaining that snuffed out any hopes of a Vikings comeback by extending a 36-26 Packers lead. The fourth-year pro, who recorded a career-high 49 receptions a season ago, also was involved in the short passing game, and he'll look to augment his overall numbers in a Week 2 divisional tussle with the Lions next Sunday.

  • Josh Jacobs RB | GB

Raiders' Josh Jacobs: Scores three times

Jacobs carried the ball 25 times for 93 yards and three touchdowns in Week 1 against Carolina. He added four receptions for 46 yards.

Jacobs found the end zone regularly, with all three of his scores coming from within 10 yards. Also encouraging was his involvement in the receiving game, as Jacobs failed to record four receptions in any contest during his rookie campaign. Jacobs is locked into a bellcow role for the Raiders and should be a key part of their offense in Week 2 against the Saints.

  • Nick Chubb RB | HOU

Browns' Nick Chubb: Limited workload in Week 1 loss

Chubb rushed 10 times for 60 yards and brought in his only target for six yards in the Browns' 38-6 loss to the Ravens on Sunday. He also lost a fumble.

Chubb saw backfield mate Kareem Hunt outpace him by three carries, and given that the unexpected workload split unfolded in the first game under a new head coach/coordinator, it certainly is a situation at least worth monitoring heading into Week 2. That said, there was nothing amiss with Chubb's efficiency, as his 6.0 yards per carry against an elite defense was highlighted by an impressive 29-yard run. Chubb did cough up the ball with four seconds remaining in the third quarter, but the Browns already were down 31-6 at the time. The third-year back will look to build on his numbers with a bigger share of touches in a Thursday night AFC North battle against the Bengals in Week 2.

  • Bears' Cordarrelle Patterson: Posts 31 yards

Patterson carried four times for 19 yards while catching his only target for an additional 12 yards in the Bears' 27-23 win over the Lions on Sunday.

Patterson served as a rotational player, and he provided Chicago with a pair of plays that gained at least 12 yards each. It's unlikely that he sees enough regular work to make him a weekly lineup consideration in most fantasy leagues.

  • Jaguars' James Robinson: Totals 90 yards

Robinson carried the ball 16 times for 62 yards in the team's Week 1 contest against the Colts. He also added one reception for 28 yards.

Robinson was clearly atop the depth chart, as no other running back tallied a carry. While largely unspectacular, Robinson picked up chunk yardage early in the game. His efficiency waned as the contest moved on, though he managed to total 90 yards on 17 combined touches. With the Jacksonville depth chart still murky behind Robinson, he should in line for plenty of touches once again in Week 2 against the Titans.

  • Colts' Nyheim Hines: Finds end zone twice

Hines carried the ball seven times for 28 yards and a touchdown in Week 1 against the Jaguars. He added eight receptions for 45 yards and another score.

Hines accounted for the first two scores of the Colts' season. His first touchdown came on a 12-yard scamper early in the first quarter. He followed that up one quarter later with an eight-yard reception to find the end zone. His heavy involvement in the passing game was little surprise, and he should have the chance to maintain -- or even augment -- his rushing role in Week 2 against the Vikings with Marlon Mack (Achilles) almost certain to be absent.

  • Football Team's Antonio Gibson: Receives 11 touches in debut

Gibson gained 36 yards on nine carries and added two additional yards while snaring both his targets during Sunday's 27-17 win over the Eagles.

Making his NFL debut, Gibson led the team in rushing despite receiving roughly half as many carries as Peyton Barber. The majority of his production came on a nifty 20-yard scamper, but nevertheless, it was encouraging to see him average 4.0 yards per carry against one of the tougher run defenses in the league. Barber did score twice on the day, but perhaps Gibson's more productive per-touch numbers could earn him additional usage next Sunday against the Cardinals.

  • Myles Gaskin RB | SEA

Dolphins' Myles Gaskin: Team's leading rusher in opener

Gaskin rushed nine times for 40 yards and caught all four of his targets for 26 more in Sunday's 21-11 loss to New England.

Gaskin surprisingly led Miami in both carries and yards on the ground, with Jordan Howard rushing eight times for seven yards and a touchdown and Matt Breida rushing five times for 22 yards. Gaskin also tied for the team lead in catches. Howard's struggles have opened the door for Gaskin to take over as the team's lead back, and he'll have a chance to solidify that role in Week 2 against the Bills.
