  • Cade Johnson WR | SEA

Cade Johnson: Brought back on practice squad

The Seahawks signed Johnson to the practice squad Wednesday, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.

Johnson was waived amidst Seattle's final round of roster cuts Tuesday after he failed to secure a spot on the team's active roster this preseason. The 24-year-old wideout will now get another look from the Seahawks while on the team's practice squad heading into the regular season.

  • Tay Martin WR | DET

Tay Martin: Returns on practice squad

The 49ers signed Martin to the practice squad Wednesday.

Martin was waived as part of San Francisco's final roster cuts Tuesday after signing with the team as an undrafted free agent in May. The wide receiver out of Oklahoma State will now look to prove himself while on the team's practice squad this regular season.

  • Seahawks' Marquise Goodwin: Makes it past cutdown day

Goodwin (hamstring) secured a spot on the Seahawks' 53-man roster.

Goodwin is expected to be ready for Week 1 against the Broncos. The 31-year-old wide receiver adds a ton of speed to an offense that already featured DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. However, he likely doesn't have much fantasy appeal, as he hasn't posted more than 395 receiving yards in a season since 2017.

  • Malik Turner WR | SF

Malik Turner: Heads to practice squad

The 49ers signed Turner to the practice squad Wednesday.

Turner ultimately returned to San Francisco via the practice squad following his release by the team Tuesday. The 26-year-old wideout, who caught 12 passes for 149 yards and three touchdowns with the Cowboys last year, will now look to work his way back onto an active roster at some point this regular season.

  • Cody White WR | LV

    Cody White: Back in Pittsburgh

The Steelers signed White to their practice squad Wednesday, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.

White caught four of six targets for 19 yards in three preseason games with the Steelers. He was waived in the final phase of roster cuts but will now return to the team as depth at wide receiver.

  • Britain Covey WR | PHI

Britain Covey: Re-joins Philly on practice squad

Covey signed with the Eagles' practice squad Wednesday, Sage Hurley of the team's official site reports.

Covey was waived as part of Philadelphia's final roster cuts Tuesday after recovering from a hand injury that temporarily sidelined him this preseason. The rookie wideout and return specialist now will look to work his way onto the Eagles' active roster heading into the regular season.

  • Irvin Charles WR | SEA

Irvin Charles: Comes back on practice squad

The Jets signed Charles to the team's practice squad Wednesday, Randy Lange of the team's official site reports.

Charles originally joined the Jets in May as an undrafted free agent out of Division II Indiana (Pa.), but he was subsequently waived. Throughout the team's three preseason contests, the 25-year-old collected four catches for 27 yards. Charles will now serve as a depth option for New York if the team's receiving corps is hampered by injuries this season.

  • Juwann Winfree WR | HOU

    Juwann Winfree: Back with Packers

The Packers signed Winfree to the practice squad Thursday.

Winfree was waived by the Packers on Tuesday but it didn't take him long to reunite with the team. He played a career-high 139 offensive snaps with Green Bay in 2021, tallying eight receptions for 58 yards.

  • Tarik Black WR | DET

Tarik Black: Re-signs with practice squad

The Jets signed Black to the team's practice squad Wednesday, Randy Lange of the team's official site reports.

Black was waived as a part of the Jets' final roster cuts Tuesday after he totaled four receptions for 47 yards throughout the team's first two preseason games. Should any of the Jets' receivers miss game action, the 6-foot-3, 213-pounder is a candidate to be elevated for replacement.

  • Patriots' Tyquan Thornton: Placed on IR

The Patriots have placed Thornton (collarbone) on injured reserve, Andrew Callahan of the Boston Herald reports.

Thornton, who is bouncing back from a procedure to repair a fractured clavicle that he suffered on Aug. 19, thus is slated to miss at least the first four games of the coming season, with the report suggesting that the wideout's initial recovery estimate called for a potential return to action in mid-to-late October. Once Thornton gets back into the mix, he'll add speed and depth to a New England WR corps currently headed by DeVante Parker, Jakobi Meyers, Kendrick Bourne and Nelson Agholor.
