  • Ja'seem Reed WR | CAR

Ja'Seem Reed: Joining Carolina's practice squad

The Panthers signed Reed to their practice squad Thursday, Darin Gantt of the team's official site reports.

Reed was cut Tuesday after he failed to earn a spot on Carolina's final 53-man roster for 2025, but he'll now be staying with the team as a member of the practice squad. The Panthers have one of the thinner groups of wide receivers in the NFL, so Reed could be closer to an elevation than the average practice-squad wideout.

  • Tejhaun Palmer WR | ARI

Tejhaun Palmer: Back with Arizona on practice squad

The Cardinals signed Palmer to the practice squad Thursday, Zach Gershman of the team's official site reports.

The 2024 sixth-rounder was cut by the Cardinals on Tuesday after logging three catches (on eight targets) for 18 yards across three preseason games. Palmer will remain in Arizona on the team's practice squad, which is where he resided for his entire rookie season.

  • Simi Fehoko WR | ARI

Simi Fehoko: Sticking around in Arizona

The Cardinals signed Fehoko to the practice squad Thursday, Zach Gershman of the team's official site reports.

Fehoko was a somewhat surprising omission from the Cardinals' 53-man roster at the end of training camp, but he'll stay with the organization as a member of the practice squad. Arizona carried only five wide receivers on the 53-man squad, so Fehoko is a top candidate to be elevated from the practice squad should the Cardinals require depth at wideout on game day.

  • Andre Baccellia: Staying in Arizona

The Cardinals signed Baccellia to the practice squad Thursday, Zach Gershman of the team's official site reports.

Baccellia has spent most of the past four years on the Cardinals' practice squad, though he has played in 13 regular-season games between 2022 (eight) and 2023 (five). He'll once again serve as organizational depth to start the year and will aim to see regular-season action for the first time since Week 13 of the 2023 season.

  • Devin Duvernay WR | CHI

Bears' Devin Duvernay: Returning to Chicago

The Bears signed Duvernay to the active roster Thursday.

Duvernay is back with the Bears one day after being released by the team. The 2020 third-rounder is expected to play a larger role on special teams as a returner than he is on offense. He logged 351 yards on kick returns and 167 yards on punt returns across 13 regular-season games with the Jaguars in 2024, but he recorded only 11 catches (on 16 targets) for 79 yards that season.

  • Britain Covey WR | PHI

    Britain Covey: Returns to Philadelphia

The Eagles signed Covey to the practice squad Thursday, Brooks Kubena of The Athletic reports.

Covey spent the last three seasons with the Eagles, and he has returned to Philadelphia as a member of the practice squad after failing to make the Rams' 53-man roster at the end of training camp. Covey appeared in five regular-season games for the Eagles in 2024 and finished with seven catches (on eight targets) for 34 yards.

  • Josh Kelly WR | DAL

Josh Kelly: Signed to Houston's practice squad

The Texans signed Kelly to the practice squad Thursday.

Kelly was unable to crack the Cowboys' 53-man roster, but he'll stay in-state with the Texans on the team's practice squad. The undrafted rookie out of Texas Tech finished the preseason with two catches (on six targets) for 25 yards across 68 offensive snaps in three games.

  • Mack Hollins WR | NE

Patriots' Mack Hollins: In mix behind top duo

As Week 1 approaches, Chad Graff of The Athletic notes that Hollins is a candidate to log early-season reps out wide opposite Stefon Diggs (knee).

While Diggs (assuming his health) and slot man DeMario Douglas profile as the team's top two wide receiver options, how things shake out beyond that duo remains to seen. Based on practices this summer, Graff guesses that Hollins could see the most snaps opposite Diggs early on this season. That said, Kayshon Boutte also is in the mix on that front, while third-rounder Kyle Williams projects as the upside play as the season progresses. In any case, clarity with regard to the exact Patriots' WR pecking order probably won't arrive until the team's Week 1 box score/snap counts are available to provide more concrete context.

  • Russell Gage WR | SF

49ers' Russell Gage: No practice after signing

Gage (knee) didn't practice Thursday, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.

Gage re-signed with the 49ers on Thursday after being released Tuesday, but he isn't quite ready to practice, while still recovering from the MCL sprain he suffered last Thursday. He could get slot work Week 1 at Seattle if he's healthy enough to play, as the 49ers have a slew of other WRs dealing with injuries (or suspensions).

  • 49ers' Jordan Watkins: Not practicing

Watkins (ankle) didn't practice Thursday, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.

The rookie fourth-round pick caught three passes for 56 yards in his preseason debut but came out of the game with a high-ankle sprain. The 49ers are hurting for help at WR right now, but Watkins doesn't appear likely to be ready for Week 1 at Seattle.
